tschutschi Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 hi there I am currently working on a dungeon with monsters and stuff. When I test it, sometimes - or rather most of the times - the enemies don't attack me when I'm sneaking. Now my question: is the AI in Skyrim actually that dumb, or did I make something wrong? Lighting for example? To show you what I mean I made a screenshot: There are 10 enemies right in front of my face but they don't see me... The blue light I'm using is AzuraBlue01 in the CK. Could it be that npcs don't recognize this light?! apprecciate any help cheers
h38fh2mf Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Try spawning another opponent through console and see if that behaves the same way, maybe the chaurus is a bit blind, they do live underground You can also try player.getlightlevel in console maybe, compare the value to when you are in that blue place and go to some other semi-lighted place and see what value there is that would tell you if you have made the light wrong or not. If the console one doesn't work try attaching it to spell and Debug.Notification to let you know the value.
tschutschi Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 As I mentioned, its not only with the chaurus. I tried it with a giant in an area with the blue light. I can crouch in front of him as long as I want. When I walk into him, he detects me, but not earlier. I tried the getlightlevel command in a few places. near the light from the fire the value is around 18-30, in the are with the blue light 10-14 So should a higher value solve the issue?
h38fh2mf Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I don't know maybe it's a different issue like navmesh or aggression of AI? I don't know anything about navmesh though so not sure if it's that.
Guest kimbale Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 What's your characters sneak skill? You can do that in vanilla with sneak 100. I've sneak-killed people in broad daylight right in front of guards and no one gave a shit. Sneak 100 + skill enhancing armor...
Cyndi Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 What perks do you have with the character you are testing it with? And do you have any sneak mods installed? Some notes about sneak: Conditioning ~ heavy armor perk tree Unhindered ~ light armor perk tree These two perks (as vanilla) break sneaking in terms of sound detection values. Muffled movement (perk), the spell muffle, and the muffle enchantment are op as %@#& in a vanilla game for that too. **edit: Especially with the right (or wrong depending on how you look at it) illusion perks. Depending on what you have adjusting any of those, and the weight of what you are wearing etc. can change how stuff reacts to you.
tschutschi Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 I have sneak 100 and 1 armor part with +40% sneak enchantment. So you think its more because the AI is actually pretty stupid and not because of the lighting? I hate to do the lightin all over again for nothing
Cyndi Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Try it with sneak tweak http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/16449/? , and then use player.setav sneak 20 (player.setav sneak 100 to turn it back after).... you might find yourself taking lights out, or going naked to make less noise lol

So this is actually because they are that stupid...or sneak is a bit overpowered... I guess that solves the issue thx a lot
Cyndi Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 player.getav MovementNoiseMult Useful console code for checking stuff. If it returns any value less than or equal to 0 you are immune to sound detection and you might as well be invisible.
Guest kimbale Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 NPCs aren't dumb. PC is OP in skyrim, i thought that was the whole point.

Say that again when you try to sneak with a follower who constantly knocks over stuff, steps into traps and then just stands there looking at you while rocks are falling on him/her.
