What does it mean when you get empty notifications on this forum?

By empty I mean the notification icon at the top of the page has an indicator a post was made in a thread you follow, but when you click it there are no new posts. Or the indicator number, and number of posts/threads don't match up. Is this what happens if somebody makes a post and it gets deleted before you see it? Or that someone who has you blocked made a post. It happens occasionally on this forum, and I haven't had this issue on any other sites before.

Only a moderator will be able to say for certain but it is highly likely it is because the post got deleted or hidden by a moderator before you got to see it. It is possible that the user made the post and then immediately deleted it as well. I have also had this happen to me a few times in the last couple of days. I wouldn't worry about it much if you can't see it then no one other than a moderator or the admin can see it either.
