Anosaki Posted April 27, 2025 Posted April 27, 2025 I decided to play Skyrim SE again after finding out my PC cannot run Oblivion: Remastered. I saw the game itself didn't have any updates since I last played but some mods did (ANd when I launched the game if gave the error for incompatible/outdated dlls.) I updated the mods that gave me errors, ran loot, cleaned edits, ran FNIS, and then tried played the game. I always crash right before the menu come up. The menu did come up successfully once, while my controller was plugged in(Meaning it wouldn't let me use mouse and keyboard) so I unplugged my controller and it crashed and wouldn't get the the menu again after that.

Anosaki Posted April 28, 2025 Author Posted April 28, 2025 I plugged the controller in and got the the menu again but couldn't control anything at all and eventually it crashed I hope that is the proper file. I installed crashlogger, ran it, and looked in the folder and found this with the proper timestamp crash-2025-04-28-14-44-00.log

You just sat in the menu doing nothing and 2 minutes later the game goes pop? 1 hour ago, Anosaki said: ...looked in the folder and found this... While not identical, this crash is looking suspiciously a lot like this one. Game version is different, so that could be why its slightly different. Edited April 28, 2025 by traison

Sorry, to be more specific, it would sit there in the menu until I did anything to interact. I say it took so long because normal buttons I use(and the controller) weren't working, the finally I hit an arrow key and it crashed. Again, this is only when the controller is plugged in to my PC. Unlike the post you linked, I don't get a black screen. I get my normal logos and first loading screen, then, just before the menu would pop up, it fully closes.

Your game version is different. The nature of the fix in that thread leaves a lot of room for symptoms. The TL;DR of that thread is: you have an incompatible mod. I personally say its a mod with a dll, but it seemed in that thread the issue was actually a regular plugin that was made for LE. The unfortunate thing for you is that there's no hint in the crash log as to which mod is causing issues, and you're probably not going to be able to attach a debugger to SkyrimSE.exe to find out. This leaves the following as your options: Disable mods until the problem goes away. Go through all mods and make sure they're made for your game version: i.e. no LE plugins on SE/AE. No dlls that weren't specifically made for 1.6.1170.0. Edit: I'd pick option 2, as I imagine you can quickly go through all plugins with xEdit. Then all that remains in the dlls. Anosaki Posted April 29, 2025 Author Posted April 29, 2025 I was, of course, hoping for a quick and easy solution
