BredP Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 So.....I know how to create skyrim animations using SirNibbles's tutorial for quite some time, been using the same method ever since. On and off I will make a few more animation and stop for a few months. Recently, I upgraded my cpu, motherboard and reinstalled 3ds max and the other components. Now when I try to export the animations, it T poses in game. The 3ds max behavior is also different from how it normally functions in the past. These are the configuration settings: Spoiler Spoiler Never touched this setting Spoiler Never touched this setting Spoiler Never touched this setting Spoiler Never touched this setting Spoiler Export to folder that is in the same drive as 3ds max 2012 directory. Spoiler Shows warning but still able to export. Spoiler In the past: -For some reason, I can only export the xml file to the same drive as my 3ds max 2012 directory. exporting to a folder in desktop doesn't work. -When I press "Run All Configuration", it will export and then display the Havok Preview Tool Automatically. Now: -I can export to any drive or folder in my computer -The Havok Preview Tool doesn't open automatically anymore after pressing "Run All Configuration" I am using: -3ds max 2012 -HavokPcXsContentTools_X64_2011-1-0_20110723 -niftools-max-plugins-3.8.0-a3.9b87306.exe-5622-3-8-0-a3 (installer) -XPMS RIG 1.6c Full Bone (skeleton file) Also the contents in the Xml file I exported is different from those that I did in the past. Now format.txt Past Format.txt This is a test animation file I made, would be a great help if anyone can export and test if it is working and also check if the xml file format is similar to the Past Format.txt. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KBJd_G2wMZLLkBbsIundVM8uIdvmZhOn/view?usp=sharing I reinstalled 3ds max and its components again, formatted windows 11, then downgraded to windows 10 and still didn't fix anything. (I started making animations on windows 10) I download 3ds max 2012 from different sources and maybe the latest one I downloaded is bad?? But it worked a few months back tho......I am so lost.....
MadMansGun Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 here are my settings, but i use max2010 so the last step will be wrong for you ( 2010 can directly export as hkx, but 2012 can't ) max2010 export settings.7z
BredP Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 @MadMansGun Maybe i'll try to install 3ds max 2010 instead.... what version of havok content tools are you using for 2010?
MadMansGun Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 max2010 x64 with havok 2010 x64 but be warned, you can't open 2012 files in 2010, so your likely better off getting 2012 working. make sure windows defender is not fucking with it.
BredP Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 @MadMansGun usually the 3ds max can convert files to 2 versions prior, so should be fine unless you are saying that converting 2012 files to 2010 doesn't work
krzp Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Perhaps try switching to Blender? It's a way smoother solution for Skyrim animation nowadays, and the export pipeline is 100 times easier than screwing around with Havok tools.
BredP Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 @krzp well in the past I was using this when I was new to animating which was quite pain in the butt as well..... I guess blender is reliable now? Maybe I should give it a try. Thanks
BredP Posted April 1, 2025 Author Posted April 1, 2025 .....some how I manage to fix it..... I honestly don't know what was the cause of my issue. My animation files kept giving this error, then I just opened one of pornphile's original rig (3DS2009 XPMS 1-6 T-POSE_Controller Rig_F_v0.13), import my own female mesh and then do a animation export and it fixes itself.... Afterwards, I try to export my animation files and it also works....what the heck....
