0bl1v10ngam3r Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Right now, I am on the fence in regards to purchasing The Sims 4. I know that it's only a matter of time before I'll have to upgrade to Windows 11. However, I have read online reports about compatibility issues with The Sims 4 and Windows 11, so I'd appreciate some insight from those who've upgraded their operating system. I apologize if this topic has already been discussed. Thanks!
Guest Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 Can't help directly because my PC shit the bed as soon as I updated to Windows 11 a while back, but the base game for The Sims 4 is free now. If you upgrade to Windows 11 you can always try it out for yourself that way; it'll probably be more helpful because it'll show how it works with your computer specifically, as your specific specs will impact performance.

Is it really free, or is it just the trial version, as in only being able to play it for a short amount of time? If nothing else, The Sims 3 is apparently more compatible, for some reason. Thanks.

Thanks. Gotta tell you that's false. Medieval is not *natively* compatible with Windows 10 because it wasn't out yet when the game came out, and EA stopped support for the game by them. But it works with Windows 10. I played it on my Windows 10 laptop without any issues. Edited January 7, 2025 by aerospace

Sims 3 also came before that version of Windows, and plays nicely with it. I just know that Medieval didn't work for me after I had installed it.
0bl1v10ngam3r Posted January 9, 2025 Author Posted January 9, 2025 To get back on topic about Windows 11 and Sims 4 compatibility; has anyone else had luck playing the Sims 4 after upgrading to Windows 11?
MrGrey Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 My old computer died. Had to buy a new computer with windows 11. I have no problem with Sims 4 or Fallout 4 or any other game.
Faolon Posted January 12, 2025 Posted January 12, 2025 I've been running Windows 11 since shortly after they started letting people upgrade to it for free. I've had zero issues with it. However, I have a gaming PC I built for myself a few years ago. (5900x, rtx 3080, etc.) So your own mileage my vary. The only issue I've had is with OneDrive. Do not install that when/if you upgrade, or make sure it's the first thing you completely wipe off your system when/if you upgrade.
BoobieLover420 Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 (edited) From my experience The Sims 4 is 100% natively compatible with Windows 11 as Windows 11 is just a graphical update to Windows 10 with extra accessibility features, therefore being seen by most games and apps as Windows 10, and as The Sims 4 natively supports Windows 10, it should run on Windows 11 on your end with little to no issues. In fact, I'm happy I bought a new PC for gaming as it runs a lot of games, especially The Sims 4, much better than my previous machine. Edited January 14, 2025 by BoobieLover420
