So i have loved this X series forever however i was wondering if there is any way to mod the characters and change what their models are. The default characters don't look good, and having some attractive characters fly my fleet is a hope i have had for a while. Any chance someone has a personal mod for this game, or is down to take on modding this game? Thank you in advance for even taking the time to read this request, and have a awesome day.

There was a thread for X4 in one of the lower forum sections. Long story short, no. Such a mod does not exist and probably won't ever exist. The game does not allow access to the character models with the exception of textures. Any change in model, animations, skeletons and such are not possible due to restrictive dev tools. And as far as I know, that hasn't changed in the last few months last I checked.

You should check out nexusmods for that , while browsing through i think i saw something that was similar to your to what you want. So you might find something there.

Now i am not a 3d modeller so i cant help with this, but according to what i found out, you can mod in completely new ships... I wonder why i cannot find that anything about that someone looked into that.

One of the Biggest mods a Star Wars Overhaul has currently stated that thanks to restrictive dev tools custom models for NPCs and thus SW Aliens will not be possible.
