Allen Harris Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Hey guys, I've been looking into Skyrim mod development for a little bit now, given my love for various mods like Bimbos of Skyrim, Deviously Cursed Loot and Trappings of Fate. But Creation Kit, even with patches, is buggy, bulky and not consistently reliable. And, frankly, it's not a great interface. So I decided if I'm going to put that much effort into making my own adult mods, I might as well just start learning Unity Development. I haven't yet decided on the nature of the kind of game I'm looking to make, but I'd like it to be either Skyrim- or Fallout 4-esque; an actual game to play, but with adult elements and quests like if we modded Skyrim with DCL or Fallout 4 with DCW. But I'm no artist. Or storywriter. I'm actually a programmer who's just starting into Unity development. That brings me to the topic of this discussion: Is anyone else interested in taking that journey with me? Particularly artists and moddelers, maybe with some story- and dialog writers. I'm not looking to make a commercial game - just a proof-of-concept to help me learn. If we do anything respectable, I might cough up the money to pay some voice actors at a later time.
MorePrinniesDood Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Look over the sheer number of art, design, and programming people listed in Skyrim's credits. Remember you're just one guy compared to that team. This is why indie developers stick to more limited projects, especially to learn on. By all means, learn an engine, I like Godot myself, but don't let the scope of your first project be something a solo dev or small team would need years of full time work to make. That said, as a programmer picking up Godot engine, I'd be interested in collaborating on small-scope projects, especially if pregnancy, birth, or egg-laying are involved. 1

I appreciate it, but I'm all in for Unity right now. And no worries - I'm well aware of the scope of game development. But you have to start somewhere.
