Freezing on starting a new game. i'm really stuck.

Hey LL

I would really appreciate help with my new game issue. I have tried so many things without solving this problem.  I start sksse with skse in MO2 and everything seems to load up fine, main menu works correctly, but when I select 'new game', the game just freezes on Skyrim logo screen ( see picture.), keeps playing the background music and hides the UI, but no loading screen shows up. i have waited 30min before closing down i thought maybe its loading really slow. i tried to start a old save file but it did not work. same problem.

i have tried :

  • disabled all my mods and launch game
  • verified all skyrim files. make my game AE again and then used the full patcher to make it 15.97 again.
  • i tried the download depots and copy paste files method.
  • i have reset my ini files

Check that your mo2 override folder is clear. I had some weird cases when some assets ended up there even they were not suppose to.

Could you explain. How do i do that? how do i know what assets that dont belong there?

You can find the override folder in the mo2 folder or where your game files are stored but you can easily access it bottom of the main view it should display in dark red "override". Double clicking the text opens small explorer that displays whats there.

None of them do. Everything that ends up in the overwrite folder are new files generated from a program running with the usvfs from mo2. If you want a vanilla experience using mo2, the overwrite folder has to go.

Ok i found it and the overwrite folder is empty. It says that i can "you can use drag & drop to move files and directories to regular mods."

Have you ever actually got into the game world on that machine you're using, or is this your first time trying to play Skyrim? What's your hardware looking like there?

Sometimes mods generate files etc that go to the override. Basically all files that are greated during gameplay go to override. Also sometimes its seems mo2 has bugged so that generated files go to override.

Its ok to have files there and I was just pointing out that you can have files there that could break your game.
