Muffination Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) If we continue the spirit of other 3DMigoto Communities, then it will be likewise discouraged to see any mods that provide the Buyable skins for the regular outfit -- since that would be a net-loss for revenue, and the Devs will probably less likely to tolerate that. And regardless of its existence, you will still only have the visuals -- any potential animations or skin effects won't be applied just because it looks different. From what I can see with my limited knowledge: - The outfits are indeed created on a fully functional nude base model - Upon completion, where hidden the skin is cut away seamlessly - The remains of the "BaseModel" are in all cases the legs (given they use the full bare texture if no thighs) - If there are additional extra parts visible (like in the Dorm outfits), then are independent Meshes of the same IB VS and PS but different texture - Said Texture includes Thighs/Socks and these half-see-through windows, but otherwise the UVs and Normals are the same (using the Leg-Texture shows no differences) - Amusingly, the Texture provided by Meshes of "See-Through windows" causes a minor difference in shading around the neck if that were to be used instead - All of this means that one could simply attempt to recreate the original body meshes within the bounds of the Dorm Outfits - You can probably even reuse most of the bone weights - And if we can trust the devs that they indeed use the same base mesh for all outfits of a character, it could effortlessly be used for all costumes - aka replacing their individual leg meshes with the rebuild base & hiding the others accordingly - All that is to work on would be partial clothes and the obvious alternative costumes. Muffination Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Discernable with my amateur eye, a Dorm Dump produces the following results (with regards to a doll) - Skin-Mesh for visible parts of UpperBody + Neck - Skin-Mesh for "half-see-through" skin (darker because of different texture, but using original UVs) - Cloth-Mesh for the Costume -- This usually includes Armbands and HairTies - Skin-Mesh for the Legs -- This contains the original skin texture - When the Costume uses Thighs, then another mesh exists which uses the alternative texture (Skin-UVs), plus some adjustments for the toes - Head-Mesh for the Face -- Includes the Mouth, Nose, and EyeWhite - Head-Mesh for Eyebrows, Upper & Lower Eyelids - Head-Mesh for the Iris (with dedicated Texture) - Hair-Mesh for Bangs (Front and Sides) -- followed by a duplicate for unknown purposes - Hair-Mesh for the rest of the Hair - A couple more meshes follow -- Iris Duplicate, a Closing EyeLid, a Duplicate of the Face, and a Duplicate of Bangs - Then everything is repeated for what looks like an Outline-Effect on the Drawcalls - The Meshes correspond in order, hash, and size to the previous ones -- except that the Iris and all Duplicates are skipped. - The only thing that is different is that all share the same VS/PS, probably the Outline-Shader itself. For the IB-Hunters, most meshes are grouped together, so they will disappear in union when hunted for - All Skin-Meshes (Arms, Windows, Legs) use the same IB (although Skin-Windows have a different PS) - Clothing has its own IB (and seem to reuse VS/PS of Body) - All Head-Meshes (Head, Face, Iris) use the same IB (although Eyes use a dedicated VS/PS) - All Hair-Meshes use the same IB - and seem to combine the Body-VS with a Hair-PS - All Outlines use the same IBs as their corresponding base mesh The Best pose for a Dump is probably the Dressing Room, as they are all standing upright and look forwards. In all other poses the head is angled in annoying rotations. With regards to positioning, there are two mesh clusters to observe - All Meshes are centered around the Center-of-Mass of the Waist - All Body-Meshes are located absolute against the Base Model - aka they don't have to be realigned, but need a 180° Rotation around the X-Axis - All Head-Meshes are located absolute against the Head Model - which as a whole is located around 0,0,0 and needs a 270° Rotation around the Z-Axis 2

Sorry if I'm adding much to the conversation, but if they are mods they make the paid costume dress shorter/remove the skirt, people would buy more costumes. 2

Well, making a mod for the Costume itself is no issue -- since you would have to buy the costume first to be able to use it. I only meant mods that copy-paste Paywalled content onto the default costume.
angmar8787 Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) I'm not sure that the developers themselves want to make money from skins, because many dolls released a long time ago in the Chinese version still do not have a single skin. Also, if I'm not mistaken, they gave away the Klukai skin for free... Edited December 8, 2024 by angmar8787 spelling

Demised Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Thinking about it, it makes zero sense that the modding tools aren't out there already for this game. The game has been out in China for a year. Chinese players are well known for nude modding these games (I.E. Snowbreak) If anyone says "Yeah we don't got the tools to mod yet" they have to be lying because there's clips like this on Twitter from back in March. https://x.com/1759641489qwe/status/1764938874881458583 2

This is for China. I know cause I know someone who makes mods for BA but his accounts keep getting shut down over and over.(Hes also from China) He went private to avoid that. Azur lane mods are very rare and i've heard that the best mods are from CN yet very private. There was a CN modder via twitter who posted his things but then deleted his account due to getting traction. Thats the only one I've ever seen thats been public.
