How to fix neck gap

Recommended Posts

That's Bishop from Skyrim Romance.

I used this mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/39842?tab=files&file_id=160513&nmm=1) to change his face.

Then I used SOS and Tempered Skins for Males SOS Version: besides an almost imperceptible change in texture it was perfect.

The real problem is when I change his weight (with the setnpcweight command) to 100, then the neck gap happens.

How can I fix that? I want to keep his weight and the new face.

1-open console and select the npc with mouse cursor

2-write in console: disable

3-write: enable

profit!

Doesn't work. I have to change the neck weight to 100 I think.

I tried changing Bishop's numbers in creation kit, but since it is an imported head it didn't work.

Then I tried to change his numbers with the mod as active, it also didn't work...

I think I have to edit the mod somehow, to put the weight to 100, but I don't know how to do it.

tes5edit maybe? I don't know how though.

The neck gap usually appears when the head was made using different weight setting than the original body. Since the weight slider affects both the size of the "hole" where head sticks in on a body, and the circumference of the neck on the head, there will be a mismatch if the original body was created at say, weight 100 and the head replacement at anything else. The bigger the difference the more annoying the mismatch. It works both ways. You can have a neck that's too big for a body and forms something of an overhang as well, if the head is 100 and body 0.

In order to have them match, you have to first find out at what weight was the head created at, change the body weight to that value and then apply the head. This can easily be done in RM for your own character, but since I never dabbled with NPC's, take my next advice with a grain of salt, as it may or may not work for you.

I have seen this method mentioned several times with NPC replacers:

Select the character in the console and type setnpcweight XXX where XXX is the correct number for the head weight in range between 0 and 100. Then disable/enable the character as per Mr. "I can't tag you because I don't have support for whatever font is that" advice. This is theory should set the body at matching weight, thus eliminating the issue. If you don't know the head weight, experiment.
