shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 (edited) I'm not a Dj, I just produce & I just use my daw the handful of times I've tried to, but I wanted to give it a try, bc I appreciate the game, mods, this site and the ppl on it. It's very WIP but I think it could be ok if I keep at it Edited September 10, 2024 by shymasogurl forgot the private link
shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 omg i just learned you can extract stems from any track with just a click of a button, no need to try to de-essing or messing with filters or EQ. Wow that's so cool
JobiWanUK Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 (edited) Nice work, that's pretty cool. What software is that? I've been messing with making Skyrim songs recently too. Edited September 9, 2024 by JobiWanUK 1
shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Awh thx so much, I was just trying it out for fun and it's turning out pretty decent so far, in my humble opinion. I wanted to remix it techno style, as I had noticed ppl had uploaded skyrim remixes ( there's quite a few) calling it techno, even though it was more like edm , (ya I'm a techno snob!) but I guess it's pretty hard to do unless you are a good DJ, so it ended up techno-ish trance idk? It's fun to try new stufff though, kind of makes me want to learn mixin' more. That's FL STudio, lot's of producer seem to prefer Ableton but I started with FL and I like it, it's pleasant for the eyes, those other daws look too serious I find. Oh ya and FL comes with free lifetime updates when you buy it, Though it is easier to find tutorials for Ableton vs FL Oh cool, what genre are you making it into? Do u make noise too or are u a real musician?
JobiWanUK Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 I'm a guitarist but I'm into all sorts of genres. What I've been doing is writing songs, getting Suno to sing them, then using RVC to make the Skyrim NPCs sing for a mod I'm working on. Here's a very WIP video, no lip files yet, and the stop/start thing has been fixed now, but hopefully you can get the idea. 1
shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Wow that's so cool, what a great idea! Is it just the NPC"s that can sing or can players sing too? It'd be neat to be a bard that sings and makes music. In anycase it sure beats the vanilla bards playing those same songs over and over. Very nice work! I like the melody, is that you playing the harp, or guitar? Sumo eh?! hmm interesting, I didn't know it was able to sing. I've only heard negative stuff about AI from watching producers/musicians who are worried about being replaced .
JobiWanUK Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Just the NPCs for now. I provided the basic melody for the song and the guitar, Suno did the rest, made the guitar more like a lute. It's like anything else, it's just a tool. Many people hate anything 'AI' but it's here to stay, they can choose to keep fearing/hating it, or use it as a tool.
shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 I agree, it's like using software and laptops and all, people making music/noise with a pc used to receive so much hate, now pretty much everyone uses them for one reason or another even if they make acoustic music. I don't think AI can match our creativity anyhow, and the inspiration that we are blessed with in those special moments. 1
JobiWanUK Posted September 9, 2024 Posted September 9, 2024 Exactly. Don't use it to replace 'real' music. Use it like any other tool in creating music.
shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Honestly I try not to even use any loops, besides the occasional FX or vocal loops,no melodies, kicks, basses etc, even though i see well known producers use them, I just figure it helps to learn to try to make my own and I may just have a less generic sound eventually. So I definitely won't have AI do it for me if I were to use it, I enjoy sitting in front of my daw for hrs and even days on end until my bum is numb and my eyes are so tired I start seeing the timelines blurry and doubled, and sometimes when I get in the zone I can make tracks pretty quickly. I finished 3 Friday & Sat (besides Mastering them but that's what labels are for right) and I have a few more WIP's at like 128bars or more. I am a bit curious about AI now though, thx to you. I'd like to try making some vocals, I've been trying out text to speech apps so I can make my own, and since I'm techno it's almost a sacred religious duty to commune with machines! Update: I just checked and there's AI mastering. that could be helpful maybe . I had/have an EP that a label wants to sign, but my laptop broke some months ago and now they are stuck in an ssd that doesnt want to read. I have the tracks in wav form uploaded privately on my SC but I didn't know I was supposed to leave an empty Master channel, as in no limiter and -3db i think , and I'm not sure if I need to send them the actual flp project files or if wav files would be ok. So who knows maybe AI could help me Master them
shymasogurl Posted September 9, 2024 Author Posted September 9, 2024 Hi again, mind if I ask a quick ? So my remix of Skyrim theme song is now at 6mins or so, but I have this one bridge that needs to be filled (me too ikr!) so I was thinking some vocals , phrases that the npc's sday to us often, kind of like welcome to the bannered mare, come on and take a sear by the fire.... but more dramatic. In my game they just Babo talk to me , and my head is so full of music rn I can't remember what's some well known phrases that almost every player recognizes? Petition to make Skymix LotDB the offical theme some for ES6, untze untze untze untze Dovahkiin dance
JobiWanUK Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 There's the arrow to the knee comment if you really want to go full meme. Or 'Hey you're finally awake'. You can find loads of stuff on one of the wikis like this for example Skyrim:Generic Dialogue - The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP)
