VexPopuli Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 I was thinking of going to college for software design. I don't really care much about programming video games (I'm not opposed to it, just think everyone goes for that) but wonder if anyone knows if there are still bank software jobs out there, etc, or have they all been sent overseas?
gregathit Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 My advice would be to only minor in it. Major in Networking instead. Networking should land you a more stable job. Software folks tend to drift from project to project and have lapses in between. Or at least the ones I know do.
Spartan 363 Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I agree, get into Enterprise Networking and you should land a more stable job in that field managing corporate networks and have software programming as a minor. Also, Northern VA (I live in that region) has the best chances of landing that type of job with 6 figure incomes because of all the major corporate headquarters and the various government IT contractors and such. Northern VA is the wealthiest region in the US by median income and among the best in the world. Just get used to the second worst traffic in the US though, lol. After all, VA is the Internet Capital of the world.
