Help updating a dated mod

Recently found a cool mod on the steam workshop for LE. But it uses the vanilla body as far as I can tell. I want to update it to use CBBE bodyslide.

 

Additionally it is, for some reason, impossible to change eye color. I use the Mikan Eyes mod, which works with most custom races. For some reason all eyes are accessible but no visible change occurs. (and vanilla eyes cause CTD) basically making only the starting eye color work. (Oddly enough this does not seem to happen with hair).

 

EDIT: Still want the technical advice, but I ditched the mod. Glitchy AF. Caused random NPCs to agro for no reason.
