Paradox_of_Theseus Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Hey Guys, I had a quick question. I was wondering if these mods were supported with a Steam version of Skyrim, or if I should get a standard boxed product? I tried Googling the question and got mixed answers. Thanks for the replies.

Even if you buy the retail version it uses steam so all the mods here will work with steam without issue.
ZXZXZX Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Yes. But you may at first have difficulty finding your install directory: My steam is in a separate hard drive. But wherever your steam installation directory is, you need to find the correct subfolder. Though if you use NMM, it will autodetect the directory for you. Example: F:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim I suggest you don't use steam workshop at all. Install all your mods with a single mod manager, for me that's NMM.
Cyrotek Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 The retail version is the same as the Steam version, so ...
gregathit Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Steam is fine. The thing to remember is to not install steam in the default location (program files directory). If you did this don't panic. Just move it out via the instructions here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129 Moving it per the instructions given will take a bit of time so it is best to do it before you go to bed or before you go to work and just let it run. Then you will just need to reinstall steam itself and not have to download all of your games\mods. The reason to do any of this has to do with UAC and permissions issues in Vista, Win7 and Win8. UAC and permissions can seriously give you headaches when it comes to mods if you have steam in the program files directory.
