Loading screen builder mod backend has been updated FINALLY.

 

For most of you here, this probably doesn't matter because the prospect of touching a script or making something yourself terrifies you, but for people who want their own custom loading screens or mod devs like Nom Nom who actually uses my backend, this is for you.

 

Backend performance has been improved, I've changed the shader calls and made better use of active conditions to reduce the present overhead as much as I could.

Videos now properly reset upon being loaded every time

Both Static and animated scripts have been simplified to automatically create the inis for you so you don't have to do any ini edits anymore UNLESS you're using multiple static arrays. That is still hard coded because I have a life of my own and can't keep coding forever.

 

Overall while the fundamental functionality hasn't changed (As in I didn't introduce new features or anything) Everything should be working smoother from now on.

 

One note though, I'm terrible at scripting so if anything is broken as far as the scripts go, actually read the error message then report it to me so I can try to fix it.

 

I'm so close to being done with all this mod work, just need to rewrite the portrait mods and my personal loading screen and icon mods again....

Asking for a favour

I don't have much faith in my code writing skills, so when something "just works" on my first attempt, I get really nervous thinking that I've missed something and the code is just waiting to explode in my face when it would hurt the most. So BEFORE I do a full rollout, I just want to gather a little data.

 

This is the Sanhua portrait mod I made ages ago, but updated to use my new code, everyone has Sanhua so anyone can give this a quick test run.

The benefits of this update are improved performance and Shuffle mode which will randomly swap between all of the animations without using the same one twice, then shuffle again once all of them have played.

 

What I want you to do:

1. Download the mod and put both files in your mods folder. Make sure ShaderOverrideTeamPortrait.ini is there in Buffer values because that's what makes the animation work.

2. Open the team menu in game and go to a team with Sanhua on it (Make sure you don't have the skin on).

3. Press S + Right arrow key to swap, press Tab to randomly swap, press Ctrl + Up arrow to pause, press Ctrl + R to reset.

4. Press Ctrl + A to enable auto swapping mode, then Ctrl + Down arrow to enable shuffle mode, press Tab a few times to randomly swap, press S + Right arrow a few times to swap in sequential order and just see if at any point any of the animations freeze.

 

If the animations don't freeze at all and all the controls work, then it can be called a success and I can get to work on updating all of my portrait mods to use this new backend. 

Really hoping this works 'cus if it does, then I'm officially done with dev work after nearly 3 weeks straight.

Works for me, no freeze at all.

Also the green text showing modes on/off is helpful.

Mine works just fine. I think u forgot to turn on compability mode. Alt + F12
