I might be a dumbass or doing something wrong

What i'm doing is, there is these set of pants from the mod adventurer mesh compilation (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77615/)
i don't use their shorts so i changed it to the pants via bodyslide by replacing the item mesh with the pants one, but, the shorts item ingame turns invisible meanwhile the pants do not,
what i'm trying to do is to make a non damaged pants version and a damaged one but one of'em turn invisible

I'm still mid-build in my MO2 Skyrim AE game, but it has been my experience (over many years of modding) that you can't mix meshes like that without swapping over the textures as well. And if it's 2 different mod authors, they probably won't sync up at all. I have run into mods that give you the ability to build individual outfit pieces, do you have one of those installed? When you start wanting to swap these kinds of things, it get's complex.
