DocClox Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 (edited) Shattered Space is going to release a year after I paid for the sod, Bethesda's favored modders have got the CK early, but there's no plans to release it to the rest of us as yet, probably because they're waiting for Arthmoor and Elinora to get the bugs out of the paid mods they want to release with the launch of "Creations". Â I've been as enthusiastic for this game as any, but I have to say, I am losing the will to live here. Â What the hell ... I've been meaning to play Project Liberty for a while now... There was huge enthusiasm to mod the game on release, and the torrent of mods on Nexus has turned to a trickle. All the enthusiasm is bleeding away, primarily because we're waiting for Elinora to get rid of the physics glitches in the display-everything-in-the-game room in her fifth for-sale space house.  I mean OK, the don't have any obligation to us free modders, but I'm feeling kind of undervalued right now.

One of the reason I got that game is because they announced that it will be modable early 2024. "Modders are going to love it" Well I am a modder and I aint loving jack shit right now.  Today is literally the last day of "early 2024" and instead of city maps, new ways to traval and the Creation Kit we got an announcment that the DLC is pushed to "fall". Wht's the "date" of fall 2024 ?? They propably mean December 31st ! Oh, wait ! That would be a Tuesdeay !! They make releases on Wednesdays and Thursdays ! Well, early 2025 it is then !! Â

Maybe see what Balders Gate 3 is like if you get out of the first dungeon.
travelmedic Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 I agree with many here, I think BGS is really dropping the ball on Starfield, and is being their own worst enemy.  A year is way too long for new content that so many of us have already paid for. Plus, it wouldn't hurt them to communicate a little bit more about regular updates and fixes. We're about at 6 weeks since their last update, so we should be getting something soon, but all we have is some innuendo from a recent Todd Howard interview that an update that "may" contain maps is "coming soon."  Overall, I agree Starfield is a good (not awesome) game with a lot of potential (and could be awesome with improvements), but BGS really needs to do a better job to keep enthusiasm alive.
Djlegends Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 (edited) so anybody checked the beta today? we got ROVERS!!! Edited May 1, 2024 by Djlegends non
chaosarah Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 (edited) Personally i really dont get how Bethesda can drop the ball so bad. Â I mean, i play Fallout because i can walk/explore a alternative city - which i then learn to know by landmarks and so. I play Skyrim because i just love the lore, the many NPCs, quests and the learning by doing approach to the game. Â And then Bethesda gets rids off all those goodies, but copy-pastes everything bad about thier games. Modded UI was better than vanilla at day one of release, most of the skills are literally copied from thier other games, with no interesting new ways to play. Â For me Bethseda has to get procedual map generation working in an interesting way, that makes exploring any fun or Starfield will remain an utter failure to me. Bad and uninteresting Exploration does not get better by adding "rovers", thats just a way to avoid more of the thing, that should be the core drive why players would play the game at all. That video clip comes from a official update video regarding future updates. NOT in the current beta. The current beta has added empty habs and a interior decorating function. Not a dune buggy yet.

Z0mBieP00Nani Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 I wonder if we will get a special bay module that will allow the storage of small rovers like the one in the video. Basically, climb down the ladder and hop onto your rover.

Well i hope they add something like that, it'd be pretty weird if you landed on a planet and the rover is spawned outside from the start lol. Preexisting bays like the Hopetech and Deimos one can already hold a rover from the looks of it, but a few are too narrow like Nova Galactic and the Stroud one. The latter already comes with a ramp alongside the stairs but it looks like it was made with a motorbike in mind. They need to add dirtbikes down the line fr.  Also makes me think if they add custom bays for the rovers then would that replace the existing bays on ships or could we install both? Like have two exits on a ship or something. 1

I think it's more likely they would reuse some of the larger bays, and maybe add some new ones. I doubt that they would require us to equip two bays, but they might. Yeah, I hope we get some bikes and ATVs, or maybe a fully enclosed rover with its own life support system and airlocks, that would be really cool, but then again this is Nu Bethesda we are talking about, and I think something like a fully enclosed rover would be paywalled. If they REALLY wanted to put some effort in, they could allow us to construct our own rovers, the way we already have ship building in the game. 1
nIn nIn nIn Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 ^^^ this ^^^ Â I want a star wars style skimmer bike - but slow, like a horse. Does not need to be much faster than sprinting but must be able to go over the sorts of obstacles that will stop a wheeled rover. Crevices and cliff faces for example.
travelmedic Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Basic rovers will be a nice addon, and one that should be given out automatically. Â A proper rover addition, with ship bays, different types of rovers (from bikes to war wagons) that can be built and customized in a builder screen, and that you can see you and your companion(s) riding in, would IMHO be enough to form a whole extra DLC/worthwhile paid CC mod.
DocClox Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 As long as we're blue sky dreaming.... Â You know the shipbuilder was based on the Traveller ship construction rules? Did you know the Traveller rules had a similar system for ground vehicles? Â I know, I know, "manage your expectations" and all that. Still, it would be nice
travelmedic Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 What we want: customizable land vehicles of all sorts  What we'll get: horse armor, and if we're lucky, an armored mudcrab     Just kidding (sort of) 2
nIn nIn nIn Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Ah man, Traveller. I remember playing that with my DnD group. We lacked most of the resources, our DM had maybe 2 rule books at most. This was the early 1980's of course.  I always wanted a space adventure game like Traveller. Starfield is pretty damn close, good enough for me.  Same way that the Fallout series is as close as we ever got to another obscure pencil and paper role playing game from the same era with a post nuclear war setting. Cannot recall that games name however.   anyway, carry on .. just an old fart remembering 1

Never did manage to get a group together to play it though 1
nIn nIn nIn Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 I think this may be it - Gamma World - Wikipedia  Correct era. Correct subject matter and themes.  But as always it was over 40 years ago so I may be wrong. 1
DocClox Posted June 14, 2024 Author Posted June 14, 2024 I did play that one. Only the one session though. Everyone was more interested in playing D&D.
Reigor Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Traveler, Gamma World, Aftermath...damn...memories  Starfield is the closest thing I've seen to having a space opera adventure with a crew and a ship that covers both ground and ship gameplay and I'm grateful for it.  Going back to the original topic, Shattered Space, gave me heavy Arkane Prey vibes, very creepy, especially the space station part. Cosmic horror is definitely a genre I'm interested in so looking forward to it. I'm also thinking that if the main action takes place on the House Va'Ruun homeworld, we MIGHT get a taste of what Starfield would be like with a compressed, dense map like Skyrim and Fallout.   Which is ironic, because that sort of map is one that it would not be beneficial for the player to be zipping around in a fast vehicle, because they would miss stuff. 1

I think adding a "rover builder" as a whole shouldn't be difficult for them anymore since they already have all the code from ship builder and dlcs like Automatron that allowed us to build our robots. If not them we'll get mods for that at some point. And since we'll get a native vehicle framework made by Bethesda themselves i'm also expecting a shit load of car/truck/bike mods in general, now that's where the real fun is. 1
snoopy102 Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Quote Todd went on MattyPlay's interview and said that the $7 Trackers Alliance backlash ... I mean it's not like Todd was working for Bethesda when there was this horse armour issue ... oh, wait ...
