Hair Physics Master Thread

Recommended Posts

I realize that there is already a general physics thread around here, but I wanted to make a thread dedicated to strictly hair based physics since more and more modders are slowly focusing on this.

This is a general discussion thread for hair physics only, hopefully this way we can better organize the hair related discussion and not have to be so reliant on digging through pages of other threads just to find one tidbit about a single hair someone is working on.

So I will start the thread off, currently the biggest project based around this appears to be here : http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/44961//?

Feel free to share any other projects, updates, or videos you find on hair physics, hopefully we can get this thread rolling and eventually have every hair in the game move with the air and interact with the surroundings!

i find those files amazing  i have looked in it and i did not know that phisx animation could be generated with a .xml link  it means that people need to learn xml coding       for that  it can be usefull to have some links and information about all the making .

This is amazing i havent seen very many mods like this

I know, I really hope modders continue to focus on physics, its really a area of Skyrim that is lacking.

I am 90% sure that after enough physics are being added, we will start to see the Skyrim Engine not functioning properly, because physics are a pretty intensive field to force your Skyrim onto.

After trying the hair physics, I must say that this has become a MUST in my game, I love that moving hair.

Is a pity that someone who never used any 3d program (like me) or don´t know how to open an xml file (like me again, lol), can´t convert their favorite hair to physics one... :(

I am really hopping that some of the SG hairs get converted, specifically the long haired ones, it would be awesome to see my characters hair blow in the wind. Such a minute detail that would add so much to the game! To my understanding this is very VERY difficult though.

I am afraid that we will see a huge amount of bouncing mega-oppai-boobs before we can see our hairs blowing in the wind... :(:P

You might wanna add clothing physics too, I hate seeing static dresses gonna blame Bethesda for using an really outdated engine.

Same here, I'm not asking for TressFX quality of hair physics but as long it moves and not scripted i am okay with it :P

Once hair physics in Skyrim become a little more well known and easier for more and more modders to do, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of different hair mods converted to this physics system.

I'll honestly be amazed if one of the first full conversions isn't Apachii's or one of the other largely used hair compilations that are readily available on the internet.

Besides xp32's ponytail and Merida hair by yoo, are there other HDT hair projects going on?  I spent a week looking into the modding process but the hurdle is simply impossible for my capability.  The ponytail somehow just felt like the wrong hair style for my PC and while Merida hair looked and moved amazingly the hair simply created too much shadows making PC face strange most of the time.  There are attempts by Chinese modder where they kept the strands fixed and just applied physics to the tails, essentially treating each tail as a rigid bouncing object for that anime look.  Not my cup of tea.  As much as I love full flowing hairs in Merida, I doubt any moder will devote time to this process.  To be honest, I would love someone just follow the Chinese compromise and applying physics to a few or even just a couple of strategic strands on Apachii's hair (preferably somewhere not to cast shadow on the face, which opens a big can of visual worm) to give the illusion of moving hair.  Nevertheless, it does appear that all hair projects have ceased since the few attempts immediately after xp32's ponytail release.

not a normal thinking human being would the SG Hair Pack continue working and then make available to the public!

it would be a criminal act. for me, the SG hair pack also the best thing was made for Skyrim,

but almost all know that it is no longer allowed.

One thing I've seen that all the hair physics mods have in common is they all seem to focus on ponytail style hair meshes.  Granted I may have missed something, but I would like to have some non-ponytail physics mods.  Anyone know of any?  BTW, @Galvanize the nexus mod you've linked to from your introductory post is currently set to hidden.  We can't get any files from that mod for the time being.

Here's some for you :

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57179/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/57538/?

I only know those two mods + the one from xp32

But i'm sure i've seen another mod somewhere in loverslab's or nexus's forums..but i can't remember :/

Like all of you, once i've tested hdt hairs i can't use long static hairs anymore :/

Same with everything : boobs, butt, clothes,....

When we tastes something better than everything we just can't go back..

Hope other modders will work on hdt hairs...

So I found some more content.

First is a YouTube video of a great hair pack that someone added physics to, worth checking out...

Next is a link to some HDT stuff (with hair) right here on loverslab.

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/28957-hdt-finds-on-3dm/

Edit:

Okay so here is the download to the YouTube link I just showed, 3 great hairs that are twin tails with HDT added.

Hey there folks,

i'm new to loverslab and so i scanned the Forum via search bevor i asked but i haven't found a answer that peased me anywhere.

Is here a way to add hairstyles like from HDT hair physics projekt to ALL NPS (who use same hairstyle.-...... something like making the physics hairstyles replace certail VANILLA hairstyles (i think that way, they would spread across Tamriel)

thanks for answers up front.

You can't make a mod with vanilla hairs replacer for all Skyrim because the creation don't export new bones from hairs.

And the second problem is a problem with Havok and the graphic engine of Skyrim, when PNC are equipped with Havok physics they can become invisible when you do a changing cellule.

Sadly, Havok working good only for your character.
