(ALPHA) Fast Tats

A high performance patch for SlaveTats that aims to speed up application, removal, and sync times.

 

Improvements include:

  • Faster MCM startup time
  • Eliminated game load wait time
  • Sub-second tattoo application/removal

This is very much in alpha and primarily intended for those interested in providing early feedback. Source for the plugin can be found here.

 

Requirements

Recommended:

Installation

  1. Install as you would any other mod
  2. Ensure you overwrite SlaveTats
  3. A new game is recommended. If not, ensure all SlaveTats are removed prior to installing.

For Users

Fast Tats should support most major game versions including the latest version of Racemenu for 1.5.97, 1.6.640/659/1130/1170. However, I can only test on 1.6.640 so feedback is necessary for the other versions. If you run into problems, please post a crash log.

 

If you encounter stuttering or freezing during tattoo application, open SKSE/Plugins/OverlayManager.ini and increase iApplicationDelay. OverlayManager may apply overlays too quickly for Racemenu so increasing the delay time can help resolve issues.

 

If you encounter issues with other mods dependent on SlaveTats, please post in the thread. FT aims to retain compatibility with all ST-dependent mods.

Done in 0.1.6 :), although there's an issue with saves rn. If anyone's reading this, please wait until 0.1.7 or greater is released. Working on some fixes on Discord.

Very awesome mod, and definitely something I'll be adding to my load order, thank you! Only thing to note is that it seems to break STMM's clear function (At least on my install), which of course is an unrelated mod but also one that tries to make applying tattoos faster. Would love to see the two play nice, if possible 😉.

I thought "this will be great!", but then my game crashes at loading with this active.  Sad....
Maybe a PAHE confilct?  That already overwrites some slavetats scripts.

I'm likely going to wait until things are stable before providing compatibility patches for other mods that edit ST scripts.

It's near real time i.e. it's done as soon as you exit the menu and there is no wait time on game load, so I would assume so. Here's a demo, courtesy of @Alpia, in which they try applying 24 tattoos at once.

Can you post a crash log? And for PAHE as above, I'll work on compatibility patches after the mod exits alpha and enters beta.

Ever since I've installed this, I've had several crashes which all reference MuJointFix and hdtSMP in the probably callstack of the crash, so there may be some sabre ratling between your DLL and those.

Didn't crash on that before and doesn't again once I disable fasttats.

 

Fasttats is blisteringly fast tho, YPS Immersive Fashion does a lot of tat monitoring and switching as it uses the tats system to apply, degrade and otherwise alter makeup, nail polish, piercings and some other things and the difference is actually noticeable.

Those two mods are often in the log but they're usually not the cause. Eagerly awaiting those logs ;).

With these CTDs I'm unable to use this mod in its current state. I saw someone above mention PAHE and I see this mod has scripts conflicting with it so maybe that's the issue?

With these CTDs I'm unable to use this mod in its current state. I saw someone above mention PAHE and I see this mod has scripts conflicting with it so maybe that's the issue?

Should be a log generated by this mod called OverlayManager.log. Do you mind posting that if no crash log exists?

v0.1.7 is up in which I've fixed a reported issue with game load and added a significant amount of logging.

 

As a general note for CTDs, I've tested on 1.6.640 and received positive feedback regarding 1.5.97 and 1.6.1170. If you encounter a CTD it is likely situational and I appreciate/need logs to diagnose. Overwritten scripts should not cause CTDs so if they occur I likely need to fix something on the SKSE side.

 

When reporting a CTD please include the following:

 

For crash logging (regardless of game version) I recommend: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/59818?tab=files This supports PDB files (which Fast Tats and other mods include) that makes understanding the crash significantly easier.

 

Additionally, Fast Tats will generate a log entitled OverlayManager.log that tells me exactly what OM was doing right before it crashed. You can find this at Documents/My Games/Skyrim Special Edition/SKSE/OverlayManager.log

 

Finally, a script log is generally helpful. Please follow this guide to enable and find your script log.

Running Skyrim SE 1.5.97 and Fast Tats 0.1.7.

 

SLUTS Resume tattoo application and removal is working well with Fast Tats, and is amazingly fast! 👍

 

With Fast Tats, the SLUTS Resume tattoo application is virtually instantaneous, which is a big improvement over regular SlaveTats.

 

Screenshot below is with Fast Tats 0.1.7 enabled:

Unfortunately, Public Whore 1.2.4 tattoo application does not seem to be working with Fast Tats 0.1.7.

 

I tested becoming Public Whore in both Whiterun and Falkreath, and didn't get the notfication that "SlaveTats is working on..." and the tattoo was not applied.

 

 

For reference, the following screenshot was taken without Fast Tats, upon becoming Public Whore of Whiterun. The Whiterun tattoo is supposed to be applied on right breast, but this did not work with Fast Tats 0.1.7 activated in my load order.

The chinese is from some pack on here.  Mostly makeup I think.  It confuses me that the tats are in english but the json's have chinese names.  I've translated some of them but got tired of it.  I put them first in the load order to see if they would be overwritten, but a lot of them do not.  I'll take a closer look at cleaning them up.

Yes, that's the logger I'm using.  I've had plenty of crash logs, just not from this one.

I updated my AddressLibrary and to the latest CrashLogger (I was a version back because I'm still running GoG 1.6.659 and was avoiding updates).

I noticed that SLUTS Resume and Public Whore make different API calls to SlaveTats.

 

SLUTS Resume (works okay)

 

SlaveTats.add_tattoo(me, tattoo)

 

Public Whore (not working)

 

SlaveTats.simple_add_tattoo(Game.GetPlayer(), section, name)

 

 

The simple_add_tattoo function contains this code, which specifies -1 for the slot number:
