The Goth family

Something just occurred to me when aging down an adult sim for story purposes. So the Goth family consists of Mortimer and Bella Goth, and their two kids, Cassandra Goth, who is a teen, and Alexander Goth, who is a child. Mortimer is an adult and Bella is a young adult, what I'm wondering is, when would they have gotten together to conceive Cassandra? If Cassandra is a teen, that would mean that Mortimer and Bella hooked up when Bella was a teen and Mortimer was a young adult. I just find it kind of funny when the new high school pack came out (and I don't mean to beat a dead and stinking horse), everyone was worried about sim age, as in what "teen" meant. I mean, to me, the fact that EA didn't change the lore surrounding the Goths to fit the "teens are younger than 18 narrative", if that's what they were pushing, kind of gives away the idea that teens are still intended to have whatever age the person playing them defines it as.

 

But maybe I'm wrong...

Clearly you've never met or talked to people from the southern states of the USA.  As messed up as it is, I've heard many stories where girls 13 years old are getting knocked up by high schoolers (Ages 14-19) or "young adults".  Hell, a friend of mine from Louisiana once told me "Finding an attractive women in her 20s in Louisiana who DOESN'T already have a kid is rarer than gold".  Also, people in general will date for various reasons with age gapes 10 years+ between their partners.  Life happens in many unplanned ways and it happens often.

 

As for the Goths, try not to look at it as something devious when age in the sims is not so clearly defined.

Well, according to the High School Pack, Goths, Pancakes, and Landgraabs were supposed to be classmates, but Mortimer and Landgraabs are already adults, while Bella and Pancakes are young adults. Not to mention Johnny Zest, the young man who was supposed to be Landgraab's son... The Sims 4 lore is broken.

If you want to use Sims Lore, and a little science fiction, in Sims 2, she was missing, allegedly abducted by aliens, they sort of hint at it in Sims 4. Maybe she was abducted after Cassandra was a child, and when she came back, hadn't aged a day due to being in a cryogenic chamber. 

 

I don't even worry about all that, since I send Bella off to have sexual adventures with everyone else.
