Lydia's default shield

I traded Lydia a legendary Stahlrim shield.  she won't equip it. she prefers her default steel one. how can I change this?

'll try a test, give lydia times a two-handed sword! but it must be stronger than their one-handed sword, if they used it and the shield disappears, then it is up to the shield, with which you want to equip it.
lydia things you can only equip a higher value have as their own inventory.

 

edit: have you ever tried it with another shield?

versuche mal einen test , gieb lydia mal ein zweihandschwert ! es muß aber stärker sein als ihr einhandschwert , wenn sie es benutzt und das schild verschwindet , dann liegt es an dem schild , mit dem du sie ausstatten willst .
du kannst lydia nur mit sachen ausstatten die einen höheren wert haben wie ihr eigenes inventar .

Another alternative, follower mod such as AFT, UFO, EFF allow you to change your follower equipments.

thanks peeps for all advice.

 

I used EFF to set her default to none and then took her steel sword off her. she immediately equipped all the legendary heavy stahlrim gear I had given her.

pull up the console using " ~ "

select Lydia with your mouse

Type "Drop 13955 1" hit enter

she should drop default shield.

 

for future use "drop" to remove item off folks

use "showinventory" to see what they are carry
