Kaitol Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Recently completely re-installed oblivion to fix some stupid errors I made. Got everything installed right and working, game runs fine. There's just one small issue with face textures I'm having a bit of a problem with. The slits/stripes under the eyes on a lot of NPC's. I know this is usually from mismatching head06/vanilla textures on the wrong head. I'm just having a bit of a problem figuring out how to solve it. I've tried looking up information on it, but its scarce and doesn't really have to to deal with my particular issues. Although I thought I recalled someone mentioning it on here, but I couldn't find it again. I have run BOSS, manually reordered lovers, and bashed, with all the lovers disabled. The two appearance mods I have are the all in one MBP++ x117++, and Xeosp++, so I'm pretty sure the problem is between those two? However since xeosp is all in a bsa I thought this wouldn't happen... or maybe its because its in a bsa and the mbp is overwriting its textures? Right now I'm not sure if its a load order error, an archive invalidation error, or a texture/mesh issue, so I'm at a bit at a loss. I've tried moving a few things around the load order, to no avail. I'm afraid to mess around much with archive invalidation because I have 0 clue what I'm doing. I could just try a widespread face texture replacement but that's so messy and if it didn't fix it. Whelp. Considering just re-installing MBP and seeing if that fixes it. But I'm a bit scared of screwing things up more. I've just gotten things the way I want them. I've noticed it on an npc from 2chan lives along with 3 out of 4 bandits from the camp just outside the starting sewer exit.. all of them except a high elf bowman. The emperor and his bodyguard were fine, I think. I'd post screenshots but it doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Any advice is welcome, and if it's something piss easy that I missed, my apologies. movomo Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 From what I can see, that "Dk imperials" mod uses head06 resources. It does not overwrite base face textures though. So I have to suspect that your bashed patch is trying something stupid. Try opening your bashed patch with CS and check if it's directing all the textures or meshes to head06 one.. Or, simply disable bashed patch and see what happens.

I'm not good enough at the construction set to know how to set new face textures myself, I did however pinpoint the problem Almost all the humanoid copy races from 2chan lives. They're the only ones with the problem. Although cobh Ohmes also happen to have it too. Now I just need to figure out How to fix them. The mod must be pointing at textures that got overwritten... I think? Should I just manually point all the races in the mod at meshes and textures from the non copy race? Or is there a better way to fix it?
movomo Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Ah... umm. Mine was a fail then. But I'm sure someone with proper knowledge would help. I've never tried that F2L mod. I thought that mod would use MBP resources.. MBP never install any head06 mesh or texture. That probably means you have installed some cosmetic overhaul mod other than MBP and that mod consists of only loose files and doesn't use esp plugin. Just my rough guess.. Or if this issue is not related to the conflict between resource files, you can use Tes4Edit to pick out the culprit. you can load all the active plugins you have, and it'll point which mods are overwriting a given record. Now I just need to figure out How to fix them. The mod must be pointing at textures that got overwritten... I think? Should I just manually point all the races in the mod at meshes and textures from the non copy race? Or is there a better way to fix it? Well, the bestest way to fix such kind of issues would be giving up one of them. But if you feel up to do and don't mind some manual work, choose whatever way that makes you happy. In my case that I have to handle conflicts, I always can't seem to avoid the toughest way and always regret it later..

I did way back at the start of the installation try to get vanilla races deluxe working, but it conflicted with MBP no matter what I tried, so I deactivated its omod and moved on. I thought for some reason omods didn't leave loose files behind, but maybe.... After a cursory glance, it doesn't look like it left any files behind... but I'll try moving some files out and see what happens No love. actually Maybe I'll try updating MBP, just recalled the all in one might not have the latest version and maybe f2l needs it. After looking closely in the construction set, and ruminating a bit, I replaced the textures in f2l with the textures from characters, after making a backup. Worked, although I'm going to keep an eye out for issues with teeth or eyelashes. Thanks for the suggestion to poke around in the construction set, it really helped me get started figuring it out.
