Issues with FNIS

Hey everybody. I've been having a really annoying issue with FNIS, and I haven't been able to get help so far for it.

 

I have a legit copy of Skyrim, disk and all, installed into my Steam directory that I've had for years, and yet for some reason the FNIS program keeps saying otherwise.

 

I've asked Fore for help, looked up the different ways to fix and handle the issue, but nothing so far has really helped.

 

Avoiding the Steam verification thing, installing from the disk itself, creating a backup with Steam, and it all ends the same way. I've tried it with no mods, with mods, just in case something in one was affecting more than I expected, and it ended up the same way.

 

If anyone can offer any sort of help, ideas to what it may be, or something I might've possibly messed up on, I'd greatly appreciate any assistance.

if you're worried about ">>Warning: Generator not run from a legal (Steam) Skyrim installation directory.<<", ignore it.

it's because you got Steam not running from the OS own program files folder (default: %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\...), but instead from drive D and it's own folder.

 

if you're worried about the single warning at the end: ignore it as well.

if it's more then 1 warning: examine.

Huh, really now? I guess if I have spare time on my hands I'll install it on that files folder then. I actually do have it on the D drive instead, as that one has a lot more space to hold stuff.

 

Still I'm a bit concerned since, I haven't gotten the pose pack to work after a few tests and tries. Perhaps I gotta try it a few more times, see if it works I guess.

Just leave everything as it is. Never touch a running system.
Only benefit you get, from using the default Steam installation folder, is that FNiS will stop displaying this message.

Not worth moving your Skyrim folder ... and all other games. Not to mention, that having Steam (and games in general) on a different drive has its benefits.

Hmm, you're right honestly. Though, oddly enough even WHEN it was in the C drive I still had this issue, so, weird.

 

Still, thanks a lot for the help. I was pretty much just gonna give up on using the damn thing, since I'd spent like 2-3 hours or so trying to get rid of the message, thinking it was a big deal and show stopper. Fore himself was, well, honestly kinda insulting when he responded to me on the Nexus and all. So it's nice to actually get someone to help me, WITHOUT being a little bit passive-aggressive.

 

So again, thanks. Gonna try and see if FNIS animations themselves work, instead of just the pose pack.

You could ofc be a user of a pirate copy and as i experienced, there seem to be more then i expected, asking similar questions.
But i'm sure you copy is legal, as noone would install a pirated Skyrim into Steams SteamApps\Common folder.

 

And don't worry. The content, FNiS created, will work just fine with your LEGAL copy. Not so much for a pirated copy - no support given.

My game runs from another drive to. OS on C:, Steam on F: and my steam games on another drive.

Steam does not offer this functionality for nothing.
