Recent increase in crash on start / load anyone?

Before I start going crazy trying to retrace my steps and find out what I did wrong, I need to ask if anyone has noticed any unusual increase in crash on load over the past two days.

 

What I am trying to rule out is any shenanigan from Steam or other source of updates out of my control.

 

I had a fairly stable config up to two days ago when the crashes on load appeared.

 

What I did recently:

 

- Reverted back to SexLab 1.22 (the last mod I upgraded before the issue). No effect.

- Reverted back to a complete backup of my skyrim folder from the day before. It seemed to be working again for a while, then after a couple of hours, crashes appeared again (this is why I suspect something from Steam)

- Reinstalled or upgraded Tes5edit, TesModManager, SKSE (good occasion to refresh those)

- Tried a new game with all SexLab mods disabled.

 

I got into the habit of doing a clean save just after creating my character (in Alternate Start - Live a new life). That was usually a reliable save to load with no crash but no longer - now even that fresh, bran new save randomly crashes.

 

Nothing in the log (crash happens at several points of the log. Sometimes at the very start, sometimes later).

 

So I am taking things from the top - disabling a range of mods - start a fresh save - play a while to see if the crashes keep happening.

 

No luck so far.

 

I spend a lot of time backing things up and keeping a well reviewed load order, and I really can't remember doing anything out of the ordinary in the last 24h, so that rash of crashes is very troubling to me.

Mods in orange are personal mods I am working on - they were the first to be disabled in my tests

 

Edit: I know some of these mods (like RealClouds) have been reported for causing crashes. My problem is that the crashes I am experiencing started suddenly yesterday, long after playing through with these mods without problems.

delete your .ini's or move them away from default folder and start game from original launcher to remake them from original, than edit your new ini's (copy/paste each setting one by one and start your game from skse)

 

make sure you ghost your disabled mods in wrye.

Looking at my load order, this may be an occasion for a dust up as well. I probably don't need all these armors and weapons

.ini's get messed up easily even without you changing them. it happened to me some times, and after reverting them to default from original launcher fixed my crashes or stutters or major FPS drops.

[Honesty]

There is no such thing as a clean save with games that have already been started.

Even if you disable .ESP's or .ESM files, fragments will still be stored in your save forever.

Even when you upgrade mods, like USKP, fragments of the old patch will still be in your save. Arthmoor has said this himself.

You're using Alpha/Beta *sex* mods in a "serious" playthrough - this is a no-no.

Enhanced blood and Enhanced Lights and FX should be near the bottom of load order.

You're using Civil War mod.

you're using tons of scripting mods.

You have a lot of "no-no's" going on here. I'd hate to see your papyrus log.

I am very well aware of that.... I never talked about a serious playthrough. I am currently in semi-permanent dev / testing mode, with regular trips back to the character creation stage for a fresh start.

 

My log file is spammed by Actor Events and DVA at the moment. Nothing from Civil War.

 

My issue here was the sudden rash of CTDs on a configuration that was stable up until that point.

 

So far, between reverting back to SexLab 1.22 and reseting my ini files, it seems I am back to 'normal'. The random CTDs are gone for now (but I know they are not very far ).
