My character wears the spacesuit for weeks straight Edited October 18, 2023 by Halstrom Link to comment
Miauzi
In real space travel, nappies are only used for flights for a few days ... such as the Apollo moon missions or for EVAs (outboard missions) of a few hours. For space stations - i.e. manned stays of more than 2 weeks in space - the "vacuum toilet" was already developed in the 1970s ->. Everything that now leads to a "long-term use" of spacesuits ... such as longer planetary missions ... is no longer possible with nappies ... the excretory organs of the human being -> MUST be "hosed" ... ... with permanent catheters for the urine (works without problems up to 4 weeks) and for the rectum -> intestinal irrigation tube. And this is where the fantasies of the control freaks (including the control of ALL body orifices) and the requirements of real space travel overlap. axo - there was another special problem of the female organism ... menstrual bleeding. - either medication to suppress ovulation - or tamponage or "inserts - or special plug for the exception and removal of the blood Edit: I'm reading through the "nappy wiki" for NASA's space suits ... at least 3 of the astronauts on the moon stood in their own urine up to their ankles in their spacesuits because of leaky nappy construction! --- Even today, space travellers wear -> nappies under their spacesuits when launching a "Soyuz" or "Dragon" capsule. so that the famous "..hey guys - I just have to pee in the spacesuit..." doesn't happen again.
