thedoubleyew Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Title is fairly straight forward. Finally solved animation issues, and now my SSE has decided that now all my followers are bald and blind. As in, completely missing hair and eyes. Can't find much online except "fix it with Nifscope". Checked it with a half dozen different follower mods with different requirements, all of which were present and active. Switched out hair, texture, etc. mods without success. I used MO to go to a default profile with nothing installed, then added only the skip Helgen mod and a single follower, and started a new game. Surprise, even with no mods or utilities installed, the problem persists. Aside from a clean install, anybody got any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?
traison Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 First thing I'd do is inspect the follower's facegen mesh. If it doesn't look like that in NifSkope then your problem is elsewhere. If the facegen mesh is also without hair and eyes, then rebuild it with the CK. 1
thedoubleyew Posted October 11, 2023 Author Posted October 11, 2023 Thanks. Just seems odd that it's all of them.

Tried loading ten or so followers into nifskope after adding their folders to the resource tab. I'm new to NS, so please be patient if I say something dumb! All look like variations of below. Some look like the one below, some are missing face textures, some have face textures but missing eyes. All have hair present in NS. Most of them were still missing hair and eyes in-game. I found one follower an abstract mess blocking the whole screen, another showed up in game with eyes and hair but purple face, and finally one that has nothing missing. I'm...not quite sure which direction to start looking at this point though. Spoiler Edited November 14, 2023 by thedoubleyew
traison Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 (edited) Eyes are separate meshes as far as I know, so them being gone from the facegen meshes is fine. The hair floating far above the head is also something I've seen before, I'd say that's fine. The modern art ("abstract mess") you describe could indicate a problem, however I do not believe it is related to this specific issue. I've seen those polygon messes in older versions of NifSkope (5+ years ago?) and in meshes that have had their vertex order scrambled. Both of these are unrelated to what you're seeing. Pick one of the affected actors and rebuild their facegen in the CK. Create a backup of their existing data (if its not a vanilla character) before you do that as the CK won't create it for you. If that newly created facegen is also affected, your problem is definitely somewhere else. To rebuild facegen in the CK: Select the actors you wish to rebuild facegen files for. thedoubleyew Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 Thanks again! I'll give this a try when I get some free time.
