FO3 CotW issue

I seem to be having a problem with the Children of the Wasteland mod for Fallout 3, at least I think that its with CotW, mainly with the child raiders.  I'm getting the red exclamation mark whenever I see them, and its only with the child raiders.  I know that the red exclamation mark means that a mesh is either missing or miss placed; however, I've checked file paths in both my Fallout 3 install directory, and the extracted .rar  of the mod, and everything is where it should be.  I've tried everything, short of reinstalling the whole mod, but before I do, I wanted to see if anyone might be able to help me with this.

Load Order:

Example of what I am talking about:

If you look in this directory  C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data\Meshes\Characters\_male

you should see two meshes for child raiders:

chfemaleupperbodyRaider

and

chupperbodyRaider

If you have the GECK installed, double clicking on either of these files should launch the

GECK, and display the texture as a black headless figure. If you get an exclamation point

in a red field the texture is corrupted and should be manually reinstalled.

I see you are using some mods that add child characters to the game; I don't have any

directory examples with those particular mods on my current system. Some of the other mods

you have installed have a (deserved) reputation for being buggy.

 I would suggest doing a manual install of the child raider mods rather than using FOMM or NMM;

I ran into similar problems when I installed the 'Angel' character mod on my old system; I only

got it to work by manually installing all the texture and mesh files.

You can PM me if you feel the need.

What mods are you using to give a reanimated/zombie Davis West?

Also, where did you get your child character's backpack?

Thanks

I did as you suggested, and opened the body meshes of both in the G.E.C.K., and both check out fine, "black headless figure" and all.  I also checked the textures, and they are where they should be, and when I open them in photoshop, I can see them fine.

Upon further investigation, I believe I might know whats wrong.  The head is missing.

When I look at them with V.A.T.S., I can see all of the other body parts, so the body mesh is fine, but when I look at the head, all I see is the eyes, and mouth, but no head.  So, then I opened the head meshes, ("HeadChild" and "HeadChildFemale") in the G.E.C.K., and they both check out as well.  I then got the idea add "Raider" to the end of the file names, thinking that its looking for a file that is not there.  So, I made duplicates of the six head files, (not just the .nif files, but also the .egm, and .tri files) and added "Raider" as a suffix to them, and added them into the directory list along with the other child head files.

That didn't work.

Now, even though I installed CotW manually to begin with, I tried reinstalling it, with the same outcome.

Anyone else have a suggestion, that I might not have tried?

When I see that your picture shows a character labeled 'child raider' I'm

assuming that this character is added by a mod other than CoTW.

CoTW adds no 'child raider' characters unless you were to use it

within the GECK to create and name such a character.

There are probably separate folders containing the meshes and textures

for the 'child raiders'; the mod for child raiders is looking for the contents

of that folder, but the contents or the folder itself may be missing.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to tell you how to extrapolate the file

required directory paths merely by looking at the esm or esp within the

GECK; I would assume some script would reference the file location.

You could try unzipping the 'child raider' mod and looking to see if it

contains folders for meshes and textures, and if those folders are

populated with the necessary files. This would also tell you the names

of the folders which you could then look for in your data subdirectories

and fill with the needed meshes or textures if required. Of course if the

missing files have unique names that differ from CoTW naming conventions

you are screwed.

Good Luck!

I know what is wrong with your Child Raiders , this mod "KidNSFWRaidersFO3v03" when opened in NifSkope will show a path to the textures in BSShaderTextureSet that does not exist. You will have to unpack the FO3_Textures BSA file, look in textures\armor and copy the directories raiderarmor 01, 02, 03 and 04 into your data\textures\armor directory.

Another problem I see with your load order is in Fallout 3 Sexus, remove all the Fallout 3 Sexus Tentacle Fuck files and decide on just one of them, I would recommend just leaving in Fallout 3 Sexus Tentacle Fuck1-DLC the Pitt, each numbered version of that plug in has different effects, you only need one of them.

Read this post here for more on Fallout 3 Sexus, it's plug-ins and load order. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/3689-sexus-3-0-2/

I see there is also F3UmpaAnimation.esp missing, The Groovatron will not work without this being loaded before it. It will also be necessary to open F3UmpaAnimation once it is acquired and remove one idle animation from it or it will stop any sex animations from working. Open it using Tesnip, look for the category "GRUP (IDLE)" click on the plus sign and look for IDLE (KnockDownIdles) and delete it. The program when closed will present a prompt to save the changes.
