Because those games were made on Unreal Engine 3, Netherrealm refused to move onto UE4 for IJ2 and MK11 despite other developers doing so. UE3 is notoriously difficult to mod. But this time they were forced to upgrade to UE4, which is quite mod friendly.

After some testing, Zai's Kitana mod seems to hold up better compared to the new one. All the mods have the "materials disappearing/model becomes greyed in spots" bug during some fatalities. The new mod has the issue significantly compared to Zai's stuff. Hope someone figures out why that happens so it can be completely eliminated.

I'm a great 3D artist, but almost no experience with programming and scripts. I'd love to make some skins for the community but I have no idea how to rip out the models or put them back into the game.

 

Hopefully someone ends up making a tutorial on how to rip out the models, so more people can make new skins and keep modding alive and thriving.

Hey @zai_, any thought on 'enhancing' these bodies. Like bigger breasts or ass? They really all feel like the same base body (which it probably is).

Most of the roster girls have the same proportions by default, so for now I'm just sticking to that. (blame NRS not me haha)
I did consider doing bigger breasts and such, but to do so properly and not end up with some nasty low quality detail I would need to do new UVs/textures, which would take longer (and also would probably make the issues with the blood come back since I'm still unaware of how to fix that when messing with the PBR textures), so for now I decided to just stick with basic nude mods for them, and after that is done I might consider doing some "curvier" mods.

Okay I know this thread is specifically for MKI nude mods, but I gotta say...

 

For some reason Kitana looks like Sindel from Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and I'm not the biggest fan of that lol...

 

Also, I wish Mileena had shorter hair... heh...

I just posted a high-level tutorial on the nexus page for the patch ( https://www.nexusmods.com/mortalkombat/mods/7 ), although I mostly focused on what's different for this game versus other UE4 games, so I am assuming some familiarity with UE4 modding.  No programming or scripting required.  We're still figuring things out, so if you have any questions, just post to one of the Discord threads I linked in the tutorial.  Can't wait to see what you make!  Happy modding!

Thanks for letting me know!  MK seems to do a lot of things differently from other UE games I've modded in the past (even GK and HL, which were also WB), so there is still a fair bit I need to understand here and will hopefully update and improve the mod as I learn more about how MK's systems work.  It's very strange that things would sometimes get grayed out, since my mod only changed meshes and textures, and I didn't touch materials at all, and in my own limited testing, it seemed to be working well.  Do you see this happen when Kitana performs her own fatality or when someone does a fatality to her?  Any fatality in particular where this consistently happens?

Only happens when specific finishers are performed, but it's not just your mod or just Kitana, all the skin mods for characters, including Zai's and Bikini Kitana from FrancisLouis, has that bug. It happens significantly less from some fatalities, and I've mentioned before the same fatalities performed on different skin mods produce different results. Zai's mods had it a lot less, your mod had it happen a little bit more. I haven't tested your updated version yet, I will let you know what happens.

Tested, the issue still persists. FrancisLouis' mods have the same problem. Again, zai_ 's mod has it happen significantly less in terms of the area of grayness occurring on the model. For references I tested all the skins with Baraka's fatality #1.

More stuff, still some fixes to do but just 2 girls left. (Will do Janet and Khameleon when they officially come out)

Epic. Any luck finding a solution for the grey materials bug yet? It almost looks like a material underneath clips through the material on top. It's strange.

We already have nudes now we just need to fix the faces of the beautiful warriors, bringing back that fatal beauty that they had and was taken away.
