MrGrey Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) I got tired of being the hit man for evil factions They're all evil, each faction believing that the world would be a better place without at least one of the other three. And I thought, what would I do if I was Nate? Kill people in a world were the human race is pretty much doomed? I got tired of building settlements for snarky little Settlers Marcy Long is the prototype snarky whiny settler. Sole Survivor saves her life from the raiders, builds her a home, provides water, a bed, food, defenses.... And what does Sole Survivor get in return? Snark & whine. Why would sole survivor do that? No. He'd get beer buddy and drink himself to death first. What would I do in that situation? Something positive! You're pretty much at liberty to do what you want... no restraints, really as Lorenzo Cabot said. The law is what you make it. So.. Using Just Business and Family Planning (and AAF), Nate (male sole survivor) sets out to repopulate the Commonwealth with his un-mutated genetics! Build 10 settlements, and put 1 or 2 "mother" slave in each settlement. Then, impregnate them. In 9 months (27 days @ 3 days per month) you get a baby! Sure, the settlers are still going to be snarky and ungrateful but they're your Children! At least it would make sense why Nate is doing all this stuff for them! My picks to be the future mothers of the Commonwealth To me, raiders, gunners and other genetically damaged humans would be poor starting stock. Vault 81 dwellers would be a good selection and according to Dr. Forsythe they may be a bit inbred after 200 years... so out breeding might be good for them: Tina Deluca and Overseer Gwen McNamara. Piper is an easy pick. And for the rail road faction there's Desdemona. Can't do Glory, because Family Planning is set where Synths can't get preggers (it works anyway, not sure why but probably because slaves lose Synth status? ) It seems cruel to make Cait a slave again, but why not? I wonder if she would use drugs and that would harm the baby tho, So I'm inclined to reject as a candidate (and if I recall correctly, Piper does drugs as well).. Curie and K1-98 are only possible after you kill Kellogg, and I don't want to bring the BOS in so no. Magnolia is a good candidate, but I found it hard to catch her when she's not singing. Recruiting Ellie Perkins is a lot easier to recruit, and Anne Hargraves at WRVR.... That's 7 or 8 Moms of the Commonwealth.... The other four would be the Warwick and Abernathy Girls. If you leave them at their settlements, they count as two. Who would you pick to be the future mothers of the Commonwealth? Any suggested additions or deletions for the list? I've considered Trader Rylee, but then you remove a junk dealer and junk is needed. Any ideas? Too perverted? How about Coventry? there's three there. Since Synths work, Amelia Stockton is a candidate... Anyone else? Edited September 13, 2023 by MrGrey to edit.

Nein. Etwas Positives! Also... Your game idea has one central flaw: The sperm cells and the testicular cells that produce them are only "primitive"... until Nate comes into a radiation storm for the first time... or gets the first heavy dose of radiation in a body of water or a wild garbage dump. The whole idea with Nate and Nora's baby is - because an infant from a cryo capsule has the highest probability - of getting "unaltered" body cells as the basis for the "biological" synths. Why weren't cells taken from the others - i.e. the adults? Because the general level of radiation was already very high in the pre-war period - even then radioactive waste was illegally "disposed of" all over the landscape... the clues in the game are really endless! That's why Nora and Nate don't actually have "clean" (genetically unchanged) bodies - since men's testicles are "outside"... they are particularly susceptible to mutations. Which is what “Mother Nature” wanted... because without the possibility of mutations there is no evolution. It only becomes a disadvantage... when humans turn the earth into a permanent radiation hell... you don't even need atomic bombs... just visit the Oceanological Institute in Nahant. Otherwise... it's a game... why do you need sensible justifications for a fuck-hungry man - who keeps women as breeding slaves in order to... save humanity again?? ? --- Second mistake: "Natural" reproduction means the combination of the parents' genes - that is, those of Nate ("uncontaminated") and women from the current CONTAMINATED Commonwealth. How are “uncontaminated” children supposed to come about? Or does Nate have a cloning lab somewhere? ...then the settlements will all be populated by little MALE Nate clones?? --- Basically, I share your dislike for the first group of settlers around “Preston”. As a player, I even have a title deed for my house in this settlement... my butler robot cuts a (non-existent) hedge in front of my house. And then comes the saying: “You are always welcome in OUR settlement as a GUEST” Please what? Can you repeat what you just said again? It's the tutorial for "learning" how to expand a settlement... but as a player, do you have to swallow that kind of crap over and over again? NO! Because there are now other ways to get into the institute... you don't need this whole settlement box (militia path) for that. Should one even bother with operating more than a single settlement? The idea of building your own vault - an underground settlement - is available via DLC (Vault 88) ... and is ultimately a nightmare - which you can actually only play thanks to the tireless work of mod authors . So I leave Vault 88 where it is - untouched underground... the group around "Preston" stays in the museum - aka is completely ignored. I start neither as Nora nor as Nate... I enter Vault 101 with the aim of finding the tape on the dead Nora... so that the main quest can be triggered. then I leave the vault - finish the game - install the vault expansion... start the game... and can now use the vault as an expandable base... and have a huge cavern for additional expansions. Sanctuary only serves as camouflage for the Vault with 2-3 settlers. Settlers? I don't run a station... which not only shows the settlers where to get etas... what a stupid idea! There is a mod (here on LL) - in which people are held captive in EVERY raider or super mutant camp... who can be SAVED... and who are super grateful to you as a player for saving them... and the opportunity to work with YOU in YOUR settlement.
