A couple of strange issues.

So I have 2 annoying problems at the moment.

I am gearing up for a new play through and have been going through mods and what not.

My first issue is that when you first meet aela and the others killing the giant her bow has like no texture:

Also RIa's shield looks the same.

Now the Iron arrows and hunting bow that I beleive Aela uses look fine when I use them no graphics issues, same for the steel shield.

Any idea's?

The second issue is I seem to get some weird ass slowdowns. I usually run around on a steady 40+ FPS but when I look in a certain direction sometimes it drops to (I kid you not) 0.7 FPS. I have had this happen a couple of times in Riften and also happened when I attacked Aela and the others when I wanted to see there weapons but only when I was looking towards the ruined tower.

My current loadorder is :

I am running latest SKSE and ENBoost.

My system specs are:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

AMD Phenom II X4 975 3.6GHz Quad.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 TI.

8GB Ram.

Running 3.14 Nvidia drivers I think as the new ones do not agree with the 500 Series of cards and cause lockups.

Temps are fine.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

FPS drops might be caused by ENB. At least, such issues were observed by different people when testing some versions of ENB.

What version of ENB are you using now? Latest 0.224?

About the drivers, i'm using 326.80 with my GTX570. No issues at all.

About the no texture on Aela - try to disable BeautifulAela.esp and look if it will change this. Just a guess though.

Posted

Well, in most cases it actually does that.

Another point of ENBoost is to prevent memory related crashes. And that's where things become complicated.

How do you know you're using the latest version? You've downloaded the fresh ENB from the Boris Vorontsov's website?

Also, which ENBoost functions are you using?

Turns out I was using the previous version of ENB which I only downloaded a couple of days ago lol.

Lets try it with this.

No, if it's only a couple days old, it should be ok. Boris stopped working on memory and gone back to graphics features now. So, with ENB's graphics disabled by "UsePatchSpeedhackWithoutGraphics=true" there should not be any difference for you.

You can try to set VideoMemorySizeMb= to a higher values. Like 2048 for example. Or just try to leave it at 0 for autodetection. Limiting to 896 is no good.

My card has 1GB of VRam that is the ammount it said to set it to.

VideoMemorySizeMb is not an amount of video memory onboard your videocard. It can be set to a higher values, in this case some of your RAM will be used to store them. That's why AGP interface was replaced by PCI-E.

I've got 24gb of RAM and i set VideoMemorySizeMb=6144 while my video has 1280mb total. Works pretty good.

What would you think would be a good amount to to set it to with 1GB vram nad 8GB ram?

Posted

Depends on how fast your RAM and FSB is, as paging out textures to the system RAM will come with a slow down.
it's just matter of how noticable it is.

Posted

Can't say if this is good or not, as it's always best to avoid paging VRAM into the system RAM, to avoid slow downs from transfering data back and forth between those 2.

Just give it a try and see if the slow downs are to much, but in case of Skyrim i can almost 100% assure you, that the game will crash, when VRAM gets paged out into the system ram, if the data is not delivered back fast enough.

On the other hand, raising the limit of VRAM Skyrim can use over the available amount, does NOT means the game will use it. So you need to test it by installing 4K textures and loads of other HD textures, because as long as you don't have a 3GB card, data would have to be swapped out, leading to a ctd.

Sorry, i completely forgot about this thread.

You can try setting your VideoMemorySizeMb to something like 4Gb(4096). Load game, save on a new slot. Then open console and set:

player.forceav speedmult 500
tgm

Then when your run speed changes(sometimes it takes some time to change) you just...

RUN AROUND SKYRIM LIKE CRAZY.

If it goes well, without CTD's, you're ok.

Load a save you made(not autosave! it might be overwriten already from your running) and play.
