It's not meant to be like this, is it!? The top doesn't look right.

Supposed to be esm, esl and then esp, based on "the fucking manual"

Question:

Should I rearrange the few plugins at top? Just want to be sure, esl is new to me and first time playing F4.

Thanks in advanced, hopefully makes sense as half a sleep.

The UFO4P is flagged as an esm, that's why it's mixed in with the ems.

The engine loads esl's after the esm's so forget about them.  Some mods will flag their esp as an esl, which doesn't take up a mod slot, but can be easily moved around in the load order like a regular esp.

Oh,

esm are Masters that other mods use resources from and cannot be moved below esp or esl.

esp are normal mods

esl are light mods. they have restrictions on what they can do/contain the others don't.

Thanks for the explanation!

Was wondering, you say that UFO4P is flagged as an esm but it's showing as an esp, I've hovered over it in MO2 and it doesn't say anything about it being flagged as an esm; unless I missed something?

So esl's are safe to ignore in the load order and it shouldn't matter if there in-between esm's like this:

PPF.esm
Fallout 4 Fixes.esm
LegendaryDropBugfix.esl
BodyTalk3-RaiderNormalsFix.esl
AAF.esm

You have to open the mod in xEdit to see the flag property. MO's can read the flag properties and sort accordingly.

I don't use MO2 or Vortex, I prefer the simple & easy method, so I don't know IF MO2 can force load an esl, which it shouldn't as the game engine handles it just fine. But in general, just ignore them and let the game handle it.
