Oblivion/Skyrim modders kickstarting their own game ...

I don't know if I'm allowed to do this or if it's frowned upon (if it is, mods please delete), but I think it might be of interest. Some people who were behind the Skyrim / Oblivion mods "Climates of Tamriel", "Live another Life", "Reclaiming Sancre Tor" or "Unique Uniques" are kickstarting their own game (which will be modable).

Feature list:

Player Driven Gameplay

  • Player Created Journal Option
  • Open World Map with Few Load Screens
  • Unique Explorable Landscapes
  • Six Playable Races with Rich Histories (Unlock More by Hitting Our Stretch Goals!)
  • Unique Alternate Starts
  • Evolving Storylines and Game Map that Respond to Your Choices
  • Crafting, Trading, Economy
  • Character Tailored Questlines
  • Customized Companions and Mounts
  • Dungeon Diving & Rewards
  • Unique Weaponry with Race Bonuses
  • Optional Survival Needs (Eating, Sleeping, etc)
  • Role-playing Immersion Focus
  • Modability!

No, I'm not one of them (wish I could mod like them), just somebody who likes this kind of game and has backed the Kickstarter project.

I hope this isn't wrong, because I'm actually about to set up a paypal and link it here on LL for donations. I'm not going to ask anyone for money, or even point them to it, but man, it sure would help. I have $11.00 in the bank right now. My daughter was born 10 years ago 3 months early, she weighed in at 1 pound 5 ounces.  I had a full time job then, but so did my wife, and she made more money ( than by a fair amount ), so it was decided I would stay home to take care of Seraphim. So I became a stay at home dad of what is considered to be a " special needs " child ( we try not to think of her that way in this house ). For the past 10 years, that's all I've done. That, and mod games. Not just skyrim, but a LOT of games, and I always release my mods to the public and explain how they can change anything they want.

Celestials v5, hosted then on MedieFire, saw over 20k downloads in less than 4 months. So I know people like it, and I spend as much time working on it as your average person who has a " real job ".

My newest mod, uploaded yesterday, has over 100 downloads in one day, and while that may not seem like a lot, it is when you consider it is only listed and HOSTED here on LoversLab. If each of those people decided to donate just 25 cents each, I wouldn't have to be worrying about how I'm going to be paying my time warner internet bill this coming month.

I don't mean that as a threat or any such thing either, work on Celestials halted a while back when I simply ran out of savings to pay the internet bill after my wife lost her job. Before I became a stay at home dad I was a garbage man. Ya not the most wonderful of jobs, but it paid the bills. My wife worked as a teller for a casino ( or in our area it is called a RACINO ) and made almost double what I did. When she lost her job we hit some hard times, as neither of us could find a job, and I had no license.

So ya, we are now a family of 4, with a special needs child, with one parent out of work ( me ) and another who works at Burger King 29 or LESS hours a week ( thanks to dicks cutting back hours because of ObamaCare to avoid the new law ). You think we have it easy? NOPE. BUT, I do have up to 7 hours a day ( if the house is cleaned and everything is done ) to work on modding Skyrim. And believe me, I KNOW how to mod Skyrim, I can do almost anything I want. What else should one do with such free amounts of time?

All I REALLY want is to just ask for a little support from people who enjoy what I have given them. I'm not even going to ASK them to, or demand it, or any such thing. I just think it would be nice if someone appreciated what I did enough to throw me a bone, even if that bone is a quarter.

If that's wrong, then we really all are screwed.

Just my 2 cents.

Paypal will disabled your account, this site used to have one for donation for server upkeep.

Ashal got a message saying his account was disabled to do collecting donations from a adult website.

That actually really sucks, as I love LL and the freedom it gives users.

*edit* what about google wallet?

@OP thank you for telling us, they seem a good bunch, although i do think their goal is kinda high, no reason why not since the money leave on target reach.

Wasteland 2 wanted $900,000 and they ended up making $3.2 mil - and the a makers are known company working on a sequel to a known title.  Hopefully these guys can pull their dream off, but I'll be shocked if they hit the $500,000.

How much would it cost to get one of those MMO games like GW2, Tera, or Blade&Soul and make it into a singleplayer game? Slap on first person view and release mod tools. I'm just guessing because i've never played MMOs (i hate games in third person view) but they only come with a small amount of quests and the rest is created through player-player interaction, in other words the in-game quests are not too great nor varied?

So let's say one of the F2P MMOs that have great assets in terms of art, models, characters, and tech were to go under or have financial difficulty, how hard would it be for someone to come along and release a singleplayer game with Bethesda level mod support based on the MMO? I'm sure modders would rush at the chance to populate one of those beautiful gameworlds with their mod creations. Kind of like an open source sandbox world populated with modder created quests with the developers only providing the art assets and a small amount of quests on release.

If Bethesda or zenimax (what ev), are encrouching on MMO turf, I don't see why the MMOs shouldn't encrouch on Beth turf in return.
