Marie Rose

First post after 7 years of lurking. All mods are included, removed the dups and unnecessary mods thanks to LittleRedSonja's suggestions.

Three eyeliner options because I can't pick so you can choose the one you like most. Only one set of clothes because I already spent 6 hours staring between Marie's 3D model and my game so I got lazy at the end.

Also as it is my first time uploading, would love to see a screenshot confirming my upload is not broken.

or any ways to reduce file size, because I know 700mb is kinda absurd for a single sim with 1 outfit.

Hi! It is a nice sim, but you can improve your upload (if you want) and make it way smaller and avoid problems for people downloading it (because right now it is going to cause lots of issues for anybody that adds it to their game without previously cleaning the files). These are just suggestions because you ask for it, no critic intended:

1- You have a lot of duplicated files in the sim, some of them quite big, some of them big merged files with lots of unnecessary stuff. That increases file size, but also will cause issues. Cheap solution: Remove one of the copies. Good solution: Un-merge the merged file, include only the things that the sims uses.

2- You have big merged packages containing lots of stuff. For example a pack with eyebrows that is 46 mb (you have it duplicated by the way, so it is in fact 92 mb). For example a pack with make up that is more than 70 mb size when the sim only uses an eyeliner that is 350 kb. Instead, un-merge the file, include only the eyebrows that the sim needs (it will only be a few kb). Inside some of those big merged packages are skins, old sliders and much more that is not needed. Solution: As a general rule, do not include merged packages in your sims. In fact, as a general rule, do not use merged packages yourself. It will only add to file size, and include potentially harmful files that will screw everybody downloading the sim. Instead un-merge the files and include only what is needed for the sim, nothing else.

3- You have multiple copies and different versions of default replacements, for example default feet. First, it is usually a bad idea to include default replacements, because most people already use a default replacement. Second, the game can only use one default replacement at a time. If you include 10 default feet the game will still use only one of them. Third, old versions of default replacements can screw all the sims in your save without you not noticing until it is too late. Cheap solution: Include only ONE default replacement for each category. Good solution: Do not include default replacements OR if you include them only one copy and put them in a separate folder clearly tagged (for example "DEFAULT REPLACEMENTS") so it will be easy for people to see it and choose to include them or not.

4- You have multiple versions of the same slider, several copies of the same version, and a few sliders that are actually incompatible between each other, and some that are broken for the current game version. That adds to file size and will screw most other sims present in the save, plus it will not work as intended. Cheap solution: Only one copy and only one version of sliders, make sure all of them are compatible. Good solution: In addition to the "cheap solution" include your sliders in a separate folder clearly tagged (for example "SLIDERS") so people can see what sliders are included and if they want to add them to the game or not. This is important because most people already have a set of sliders, and different creators uses different sliders that most of the time are incompatible between each other. It is also important because some sliders will actually change how vanilla sliders work, and deform every single sim in your save, not only the sim you just downloaded. In my case I only keep sliders I test to be compatible with my other sliders and delete all the others. Face sliders are usually not a problem (and it is the only think i actually care about), body sliders are usually problematic. In my case (but this is just me) I find most body proportions in shared sims here quite ridiculous, deform and bad looking, so I simply remove them all and rework body proportions so that sims look like normal people and not your worst nightmare.

5- You are including both a HQ version and a "non HQ" version of some of the cc. Solution: Include only one of the versions. If you want your sim to be compatible and be used for people playing with HQ mod then include the HQ version (much bigger file). If you do not care or never use HQ mod then there is absolutely no difference between both versions other than file size being 5-10 time bigger, and it is better then to include only "non-HQ" version.

6- You are including several different skins and skin overlays. The sim will only use ONE. Skins are some of the biggest custom content files you will find out there, together with hairs. Include only the skin or skin overlay that is used for the sim.

The unzipped file is around 770 mb. I have less than 150 mb left (even smaller file if you zip it), and it is exactly the very same sim that looks identical and is not missing anything. Only the crap it is not used.

Again, please do not take this a critic or anything, it is a very cool sim and I hope you make more, I am simply giving you some simple suggestions because you asked for it ?.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. I will see what I can do about the file size, I just didn't know how to begin or which one is actually needed so I just uploaded almost everything picked up by S4TI.

Ok so after sorting I ended up with 228mb, not the most ideal but still much better than 700mb of hoarder CC. Also do you mind if I use your screenshot in the OP? (I am bad at taking pictures as you can probably tell from the OP)

Happy to help, definitively 228 is much better than 700 ?.

Sure, use the screenshot of course, it is your sim ?

Really nice but she comes with a lot of cheats. She has millions in her bank account, comes with a random home turf aspiration trait and has absurd amount of aspiration points (around 1 mil) and has some skills level'd up. Who knows what else she comes with.

I don't know how to start as her without all these cheats she comes with. Is there a way to start a game with her in "vanilla state" (normal funds and skills etc) ?

Edit: Okay so I created "twin sister" out of her and she looks just like her. Took about 1 hour but after that I loaded into a game, split the household as the twin sister and once she was in her own household I saved her in the gallery. That way I created a Marie Rose that can start a game "clean".
