When this problem first started I had no idea, what exactly was causing it and I took time to investigate. I encountered it after changing from the EA Version to the Steam Version of The Sims 4(which is free to play). The base game was installed through Steam, the DLC through the EA App. My current town I'm playing in is San Myshuno. This issue also happens with the latest WickedWhims-Update.

 

After I completed a Sex Interaction between two males(who both had automatic condom usage enabled), I saved my game and called it a night.

 

At the next day, when I wanted to play I suddenly was greeted with a sim who was not part of my family in the home screen and when I loaded that save, my actual played family was erased.

 

I was able to restore a backup made by the game to negate this issue, so I experimented with possible situations where the issue is caused.

 

Apparently automatic condom usage between males appears to be the issue. I noticed that when one uses it automatically during Vaginal/Anal or Climax Interaction, both males in the interaction receive the condom moodlet and not the one who is actually using it. Then the savefile bricks and my family is deleted. (Then again, this only affects some sims and not all. Trying it out with other male partners didn't cause the issue)

 

Disabling automatic condom usage and using condoms manually during Sex Interactions prevents this issue.

 

Automatic Condom Usage between Male and Female is still working as intended without issues regarding savefile.

 

Here are the results of my experiments:

 

-It's enough if only one of the male partners has automatic condoms enabled. The moodlet is still applied to both and the savefile is bricked.

-Not all of my male sims in my savefile who have a same-gender relationship were affected by this issue. It might be a sim issue but I doubt it.

-When I moved the affected family from San Myshuno to Evergreen Harbor/Oasis Springs, the issue was prevented.

 

So it may be something related to San Myshuno. This issue doesn't entirely prevent me from enjoying the mod as long as I disable the automatic condoms for the affected sims(not a big deal, since I find it unnecessary between male partners anyway).

 

Perhaps there can be some adjustments made to the automatic condom usage system so that it doesn't apply to MxM interactions.

I attached a savefile where only the affected sims are included which I moved out from the family. I removed the original family and also some others from the save to lessen the file size.

 

To reproduce the problem, have one of the sims below interact sexually with their partner. Automatic Condom Usage for Jason and Derrick is enabled. Eric also has condoms in his inventory but they are disabled for automatic usage. Elias does not have condoms in his inventory.

 

Jason Foley -> Elias Foley

Derrick Prescott -> Eric Prescott

 

Jason and Elias do not have a romantic relationship but a opportunity sex relationship.

Derrick and Eric do have a romantic relationship.

Wow, I've been at it for a few hours and there's a lot of weird stuff going on with your Sims, haven't seen something like this before. So you're mostly wrong about this having anything to do with condoms, it's actually due to some kind of inventory data corruption. Or at least it seems so on the surface, it could be more complicated. Currently I don't know why, but usage of condoms from the inventory breaks your Sims, I mean specifically the action of a condom object being removed from the inventory. And this is especially bad for Elias Foley which is an odd case.

 

I've made some changes to how objects are used from the inventory, which solved some of the problems, but there are more unexplained cases that I managed to trigger with your Sims, that's why I specifically mention Elias Foley. I don't know why that Sim inventory in particular would behave differently, but you have something I don't understand right now.

 

So I will have some fixes released in the future, at least for what you claimed to be the reason for the issue to occur, but there are still more things I discovered with your Sims that I need to investigate further. In any case, you can at least manually use single condoms which won't cause any issues.

 

EDIT: I found the source of the issue so this should be resolved in an upcoming update.

Great, thank you for investigating this problem and fixing it. May I know what the source of the issue exactly is and if there is something I can do from my end to prevent it from happening in the future?
