Any tips for saving hard drive space?

My Sims 4 Mods folder is now about 50 GB, and I need that space... I can't just delete random files because I don't know which packages go with which sims. I'm thinking I clear the animations folder and redownload fewer. But that's my only idea. I would love to hear from you all.

ne thing you can do is go through each and every piece of CC and see which ones you need and which ones you don't, and delete them. I know its a pain, and takes a while, but it really helps.. Another thing is, if you have a second HD, you can move your Sims documents folder there. You'll have to look up how to reassign it, but its fairly easy. Those are the only ways that I can think of

2 other things you can do is:

1- Check for duplicates. A duplicated file is a waste of space. With this I do not only mean files with the same name, sometimes it is not that obvious that it is a duplicate: For example if you have a full skin mod and also the overlay version of that skin mod. The full skin mod contains also the overlay version almost 100% of the time, so you can remove the overlay only version. That will save you a lot of space. This also applies to nose masks and what not.

2- If you are not using HD mod you can replace HD version of many custom content with non-HD versions. This can save you a lot of space too. If you are not using HD mod and do not plan on using it there is absolutely no difference between the two versions other than file size.

To move 'My documents' folder from С drive to another one that has enough space maybe? I always use this way. This also helps to keep the Documents folder safe in case something happens to the system drive.

Clear out any games or files you're not actively using. If you want to keep them, save them on a USB stick or something.

My only other suggestion would be to buy a bigger hard drive. SSDs and M.2s are cheap these days. Especially back when I first got my m.2. Drives that used to cost $200+ are like $150 or less.

You can get a 500gb ssd for $30-$40 depending on the brand. (250gb prices are so close to 500gb prices that I don't see the point in getting them. Save 5 bucks for half the space? Nah. Better to just get the 500gb.)

If you're on a laptop, you can try and find a drive bigger than what you have that's compatible and just get that.

Sims 4 tray importer.

Export all with cc, delete old and reimport. That only keeps what you using right now. Applied to sims and clothes. Other mods aren't.
