Strange follower glitch

Installed a follower mod but it resulted in a very unusual glitch. The follower themselves behaved normally. But EVERY OTHER CHARACTER started following me. I would be in riften and mod characters from other parts of the world would be following me, characters with unusual names (such as having in game dates for names like 30th of frostfall) would appear and follow me. Characters would leave buildings to follow me. Everybody was following me. But they did not act like followers (didn't have follower dialogue options). They just stalked me in large crowds blocking my path or appearing in large groups when i was in the wilderness.

 

And yet the follower character from the mod behaved as normal.

 

Anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

 

FYI uninstalling the follower resolves the issue. I'm mostly curious and would like to see if there is a way to resolve it. But I'm not going to be terribly disappointed if it fails.

 

EDIT: Forgot to mention, the mod is the "Juri Han" follower. I don't think its available on Nexus anymore but I had a copy and figured with the SF6 release now was a good time to try and install it.
