gtcard Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 I've had this problem from a long time ago, when I upgraded my old Win7 install to Win10 due to End of Life for Win7. Since I used another drive to store all my MO files and saves/skse co-saves, I was able to get right back up after the upgrade. However, I noticed that after upgrading to Win10, the shift key no longer worked as a modifier key for my mods. It no longer "go back" on a stage during an animation, and mods that use Shift as a modifier to activate additional functions would no longer activate those additional functions, even when Shift is held. For example, SL Tools has the option to let me pick animations from a list by pressing H during an animation, or I can press Shift + H to open up a prompt to type in tags for animations to display. When I press Shift + H, I only get the animation list, as if I pressed H without holding shift. I originally thought this is just because I did an upgrade install instead of a clean install. I actually ended up installing win7 on another partition, and just used a dual boot system because everything seems to work in win7, and since I already had my mods and saves stored on a modular drive, I was able to access the same save files from both the win10 and win7 installs. Today, I installed win11 on another computer, and brought over the drive with my MO files. Even on a fresh install, I have the exact same issue that I had with win10. For some reason, it seems like script based mods are not registering modifier keys for alternate functions. Shift definitely still works, because holding it causes my character to walk or run, which is the default function. I'm wondering if this has something to do with running a 32bit version of SKSE? So TLDR, can anyone with an install of Oldrim, with SL 1.6.2 for LE, and SKSE 0.1.7.3 confirm whether or not they have this same issue?
MadMansGun Posted May 5, 2023 Posted May 5, 2023 i don't, maybe you have that sticky key handicap shit turned on.
gtcard Posted May 5, 2023 Author Posted May 5, 2023 okay I figured out the exact cause of the problem. It's a SKSE plugin called Better Gamepad and Mouse support, which is a requirement for Fast Cast. I don't use that mod anymore and forgot all about it. Problem went away when I disabled it. Figured it out by disabling mods, starting from the date I installed Win10. Went backwards 1 year at a time until the problem went away, then narrowed it down to this mod.
