       there is no bandwich banners yet  when you will get to add banners advertisements for server health (money to keep running)  at this very moment i can realy judge about the perfomance      but  indeed  it is a very nice site    very fast going from one topic to another or from a thread to another  and i am using an old computer low on ram.   an interresting one.

thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. i don't intend to have any add banners, atleast not the foreseeable future. It doesnt cost much right now as the community is just friends and gaming buddies. I am not sure if it will ever be popular enough to cost a lot to run My day job can more or less cover the minor expenses to not have to deal with ad banner distractions. thanks again.

Best way to get a speed test would be to have people from different locations ping the server and tell you the return times.  More accurate than "Is my forum fast?" questions on other forums.

Ping test is definitely one way of doing this. There are online services like Pingdom that can already do this. But it's not the same as user experience. That is way more important to me that simply a ping test. I may have an awesome ping to my site from all over the owrld but that does not necessarily mean my pages will load faster always.

 

For example, I did find KingKong's response really helpful. That's the kind of User experience that really matters to people I talk to and ask about. I had low ping before but the site was sluggish. 

 

I am not saying you are wrong and I am right, just that this [kingkong style user experience test] is exactly what I am looking for.

 

 

sidenote: the ping to LL is really bad for me by any standard but the forum loads really fast and smooth for me.
