_DingleBerry_ Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 There seems to be a minor case of censorship involving Atomic Heart, as within the art book for the game can be seen in engine screenshots showing fully nude female corpses. This makes sense as prior to the official ESRB rating the game listed "nudity" in its content descriptors, which was then downgraded to "partial nudity." There are also actually still a few loading screens in the game that show the original fully nude corpses in the background. They seem to have been replaced with a different semi-nude model where in the head is shaved, the body is covered in liquid, and the corpse is wearing a kind of minimalistic underwear. It's also possible the nude models were always going to be replaced, regardless I did some digging into the files using UModel. I wasn't able to actually view most of the models since they either appeared blank or it crashed when I selected the unreal engine version, however I'm by no means a UModel/Unreal Engine guru so maybe someone else could get farther than I did. The game appears to use MetaHuman for many of it's human characters so the nude models were likely just MetaHuman base meshes and textures with no genitals or anything. Although it is possible custom textures were created or the meshes were tweaked to include them. I'm not sure what you'd be able to do in the way of modding outside of restoring the original fully nude corpses. Something like replacing enemies with the nude female skeletal mesh is probably more trouble than it's worth, if it's even possible at all. I just thought I'd report on some of the things I've found in case anyone has any more interest. 8
sc10221 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 There already two nude mods on Nexus. https://www.nexusmods.com/atomicheart/mods/44 https://www.nexusmods.com/atomicheart/mods/53 It's weird nobody talk about them over here

The game's file is locked behind the WindowsApps folder and unmodable

But the app still install games to the WindowsApps folder. Not every games went to the wrong folder. Persona 5 was installed to the right folder, but Atomic Heart and Hi-Fi Rush went to the WindowsApps folder. I tried reinstall and reinstall to another drive. Nothing works.

Something else worth looking into. There's actually a separate model of a dead woman in her underwear in the hospital section of the game, she's in the basement with a bunch of mutant nurses. I think the underwear was an actual mesh and not just a texture, so it can likely be removed and the skin is likely textured underneath. Based on the way she was posed and the way some of the nude bodies are posed in the art book, I think this may actually be the original "nude" corpse model that got replaced. It also seems to be of a much better quality than the "semi-nude" female bodies found in the lab, and it doesn't look like a MetaHuman base model to me. Kind of strange it's seemingly the only one like it in the game, at least I haven't found any others. Btw what settings and Unreal version did you use to view or unpack these in umodel?
_DingleBerry_ Posted January 9, 2024 Author Posted January 9, 2024 (edited) I was able to solve the mystery of the random lady in her undies and also figured out a little bit more about the other assets in the game. So there are typically two kinds of skeletal meshes that the game is using. This includes regular skeletal meshes, just like what any normal game would use, and MetaHuman models. Unfortunately none of the MetaHuman skeletal meshes can be viewed in UModel, and I was able to extract them from the pak files but I couldn't open them in blender. The Lady in her undies is a regular model that likely existed before the devs brought in the MetaHuman models to use. I also believe she is the same model as the fully nude ones seen in the art book and in some of the loading screens. The only difference is that her skin texture has been altered to include underwear (and maybe her normal maps I can't remember), but the mesh itself actually has modeled nipples. I'll leave some pictures of her below. Most of the models for the corpses that I found were MetaHuman models, I believe this includes a lot of the male soldiers as well as the civilian "pants ladies" and "skirt ladies" you find scattered about (you can look up their skirts in the game hee hee). The skirt ladies all have an ass but they are missing some geometry under their shirts, so they aren't a complete model like naked/undies lady. The semi-nude guys and gals in the medical lab are also MetaHumans. Given that MetaHumans seem to be a special case and act a bit wonky this might make something as simple as adding dark21a's texture to the game a bit more complicated. I also took a look at Larisa (the phat-assed lady doctor). She isn't a MetaHuman, and I suspect none of the main cast are since they were likely modeled much earlier on. She predictably has no geometry under her clothing and no nude base model of her own because she only wears one outfit the whole game. Spoiler Edited January 9, 2024 by _DingleBerry_

You can also import them to blender where you can edit skeletal meshes and you'll need to download Unreal Engine to actually make the mods themselves. All the software is free and tutorials are pretty common so I recommend checking a few of them out on YouTube.

Nothing works. late af but yea thats game pass/windows store in general. they lock everything behind something like Admin group managers or something but no amount of permission grabbing via its own settings or outside programs will ever let you touch em. some games also used to have mod support like Halo MCC (I used it to replace certain menu screens with lewd animations) but eventually they updated it away. basically, dont ever expect to mod game pass games
