payes Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 http://pcpartpicker.com/ ^^ Try using this. It might help you out a little bit. It seems reasonably up-to-date. At the very least, the compatibility mode should help you pick out a power supply relative to your other components. Some other members might have some more specific knowledge on the components you already mentioned.
payes Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Not a problem. I don't know how much help it will be, but it might get you started in a more focused direction.
RitualClarity Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Most brick and mortar computer stores have sales associates that at times know what they are talking about. If you are near by one go in and talk to them about a build. Get a "quote" of the items or a list etc of the items and see if you like what they have said. . Then you have a better idea of the "retail" cost of the parts and what is going to be needed. you can then better match the built computers. On another note. Many of these stores also build the custom computer for you in their store. It takes a couple of days but in the end you will have a standard build that you can add to and change in the future as you gain confidence in computer technology with the knowledge that every part in your computer is "off the shelf" and can be replaced. The last note. I haven't moved to win8 yet myself however those individuals I know in RL that do game don't advise the move to Win8. Try to get Win7 in computer. You should be able to upgrade later if you decide to.
FlyingLemon Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I would suggest going to cyberpowerpc.com. It's where I got my pc, and they're great cause they have loads of deals and you can make the pc yourself from the ground up.

I have been building my own rigs for so long now so I forgot some of those places... . @DissocialPersonality Yes this is a great idea, it is basically like what I was stating but you can check out the various options and cost and then when you think you have tweaked the best you can do on your own you can post back to here with the list of items and let the rest of LL (or at least those that will read / post here) check it over. A spare set of eyes if you will.

brokencircle Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I just recently purchased a gaming pc myself and being a lifelong console gamer with absolutely No knowledge pc hardware and specs. I went to the local computer store and talked to a tech guy, told him my budget and what I wanted to do with it. They walked me thru all the way picking parts and which processor went best with the motherboard and yaddah yaddah. Ended up with one the best pcs in the county. Plus I can just stop by if I have any trouble at all. Oh and I spent about $2500.
