"Complex save data failed to load"

i had a family of 3 sims: adult, teen, child. the adult and teen died, which means the household was dissolved and i was kicked back to the main menu.

 

i did NOT save! i had just loaded into the game, had these sims die, and was back to main menu.

 

but i loaded up the save again and i got the error: "complex save data failed to load" and said the reason for it was saving in manage worlds, which, as i mentioned, i did not. and as far as i can tell, wicked whims isn't loading in the game, nor are any of my script mods - i only get this error message.

 

luckily the save file this happened on was a testing file, but i am WAY too freaked out to attempt loading my main save until i know what's going on or how to fix this.

 

fwiw i literally updated all of my mods 2 days ago and everything has been fine, and nowhere have i been saving in manage worlds.

 

EDIT: reloaded the game and tried a separate file, and everything appears fine. but idk i feel it's still important to note that this error happens if you have all sims die in a household, or render a household no longer playable and are booted from live mode.

I'm also having this issue, but none of my sims have died or anything.

 

I play the game as normal, save, then when I am next back on the game I load my most recent save and my household no longer exists.

 

I get an error message titled 'Uh Oh!', then it tells me Wicked Whims complex save data could not load due to me saving in manage worlds, so I go back to an unaffected save and Save As every time, from my household lot in live mode, yet this still happens a save or two later.

 

I am unable to play as I cannot progress further unless I just never save/close my game.

If you have other mods installed, test the game with only WW and see if your problems persist.

I just tried this and WW is the problem.

 No it is probably not. WW is the mod that is warning you about a problem when trying to save and load complex data, so of course if you remove ww from your mods folder you are not going to get the error message... That does not mean ww is the problem. In the same fashion as an example if you get multiple warnings about infected files in your pc the problem is not your antivirus, if you remove or disable the antivirus of course you will not get any more warnings, that does not mean the problem is gone.

 

Like Turbodriver has explained 1000 times, do not save in world map, and if you do you need to do a "SAVE AS" into a NEW SAVE SLOT, "save as" into the same save slot will not solve the issue. If that does not help then maybe like Husk said you need to look at other mods you are using to see if there are other problems, or if your wicked whims is properly installed and compatible with your sims 4 version.

When I said “I just tried this and WW is the problem” that means: no other mods besides WW are installed, no cc installed, and like the person who posted said I also didn’t save in world map. In fact, I never save in world map. My game is up to date, wicked whims is properly installed, AND it’s compatible with my version of the game. But okay whatever you say

Are you using the same save or continuing the save you had before with mods? You can try see if it works in a new save with no mods and only ww and mc comander (if you use it) if you have not already try. You can also upload any lastexception file you got, wickedwhimsinfolog.log, and if you use mc command a system info log, and we can take a look.

Omg I've been having same issues where it doesn't load correctly idk how to fix it

I had this issue too, you just have to go to Documents → Electronic Arts → The Sims 4 → saves → WickedWhimsMod → complex_save_data 

Once you are there delete all the files, it fixed all the problem for me.
