Skin texture shaders?

Recommended Posts

I sincerely apologize if this has been addressed already, I did attempt a search and found no joy.

My question....

What shader/overlay makes the Imperial skin look different on Redguards, Norn, Altmer, Bosmer, etc?

I am looking to make my Redguards and Norn more tanned, (and maybe some tan lines), and cannot find the correct overlay. Please advise.

Oblivion does have skin shader but this time it's not much about shader.

It's called facegen texturing. Each facial texture has associated egt files and they handle the skin tone and aging. Body tone is just texture.

You can disable bFacegenTexturing in the ini, and assign different texture for each race to make difference.

Excellent! Thank you for your smarts. :)

Is there a "How to" somewhere for an old dumbass like me? Or maybe an existing mod that will accomplish this?

Actually, a lot. Both Howto's and exiting mods.

'How to' may or may not be easy to explain depending on your knowledge on 2D image editing. You grab the nVidia dds plugin for either Photoshop or Gimp and just tinker with the Hue/saturation and the levels/curves, plus a bit of brush work maybe. A lot of folks are already doing this mostly to mend the neck seam line.

As to the existing mod, you can find several vanilla race overhaul mods, especially for redguards. They usually change both body and facial textures and assign separate texture for each race. I'm not much of a mod detective myself can't help much for this. So good luck out there!
