Skyrim Anniversary Edition keeps hanging if I switch to another window or lock my screen

I have no idea what is causing this. What I often do is escape into the system menus when I need to go do something else or check something on a web page. And if I take too long before coming back I can go back into skyrim, press escape and the mouse locks and I have to ctrl-alt-del and tab my way into the task manager, and kill skyrim using only my keyboard.

This tends to fix a lot of weird graphics issues that people have been experiencing recently.  Maybe give it a try and see if it fixes your issue?  Reboot required after importing the .reg file.  (Link is from NVIDIA, but works just as well on AMD hardware.  It disables a Windows "feature" that tries to save power when rendering the desktop.)
