belegost Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 (edited) The messy state of my 1.5.97 installation finally forced me to do a cleanup and reinstall it from scratch. Obviously, the current version is 1.6-something but I plan to either use downgrade patcher back to 1.5.97 or replace the key files with backups I made last year if that doesn't work. And I mean full downgrade, not "best of both worlds", because fuck you CC content, I'm not interested and I hate fishing. Anyway, after installing SSE, the practice is to run the executable once in order to create config files and then get SKSE (obviously 2.0.20 in my case). So, do you... 1. run executable and then downgrade? 2. downgrade, then run executable? 3. it doesn't matter? Edited December 12, 2022 by belegost
plutocene Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 I recently built a new modlist based on 1.597 after trying out 1.640 and then realizing some key mods are missing. I'd recommend to clean out your game folder, verifiy the files, let Todd force feed you 1.640, start the game to get your inis and then use the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Downgrade Patcher to revert back to 1.597. Reclean the vanilla packs, and start building your library from scratch. I usually have an old folder with the mods from my prior mod-list but it is not a good idea to take them over without checking each and every single one. 1

For the first time in a nearly decade I do not have Skyrim folder on my PC. At all. 4 minutes ago, mikovic76 said: start the game to get your inis and then use the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Downgrade Patcher to revert back to 1.597 This is exactly what I wanted to know, thank you.
