Wanting to learn more about the mysteries of the NIF format

I've done a lot of work with Skyrim skinned actor meshes, so I'm pretty experienced working with the more fundamental elements of the NIF format like tri shapes, nodes, shaders and skin partitions. However, my knowledge is very limited when it comes to the more obscure data blocks such as controllers, animated meshes and the sorts of emitters and command nodes you might find in VFX or wierd obscure animations effects and complex havok behaviours. The CK wiki offers a lot of information on the plugin side of such things, but has seemingly no information on the NIF format itself.

I wonder if there is a resource for getting a better understanding of the inner workings of the NIF format and the more obscure Gamebryo engine functionalities it enables. How to do things like set up like new VFX from scratch etc. I'm primarilly interested in the context of Skyrim but if a good general resource is available then I will take it so long as it is applicable to Skyrim.

Cheers!
