Myst42 Posted August 9, 2013 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Right... so I've been at this for a while, trying to get a perfect installations so I don't ever need to configure a thing again I'm almost done Then Issues started to appear My FPS went to hell I get random CTD from time to time especially when fast traveling. There was a time I trusted the austosave... now I don't. I load and screen goes black Going to reinstall now but I wanted to know If there's any thing I should know about my current version... I was trying graphic mods, at some point shadows went to hell too I could start and ENTIRE NEW topic for discussing crappy shadows but I'd rather ask here first For some reason I get self shadows activated and they look like shit For starters, mouth and eyes meshes produce shadow... from WITHIN the face looks like a freaking mustache and raccoon eyes Many stuff in original Oblivion is crap, self shadow is crappiest of them all (This is almost a need for the Rant Thread...) Self shadows on and it looks like crap, self shadows off and it looks like other kind of crap... only at certain angles i get decent look Anybody knows if there's a way to fix this? Here's the beard and mustache effect... its glory its even grater sometimes in other characters And as for Dwemer Skyship, I wanted this mod for a while, tried to have the version you can drive, DS v2 + Improved Steering Physics both at Nexus Shit...Shit everywhere... kickthecommie Posted August 12, 2013 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Restore your [Display] section of Oblivion.ini to default. I had this same problem, and it seems to be LoD settings on shadows that cause this problem to appear. I'll do more experimenting and see if I can alleviate the issue entirely. With default shadow settings the eye and teeth shadows appear only when characters are very far away. Edit: NVM Oblivion shadows suck cock. This seems to be a bug with the game engine itself. Set FixFaceNormals to 1 and Set ShadowMapResolution to 1024 or 2048 helps a bit. Link to comment

I have really no idea what it was in the end But I tracked the error to something related to the interaction between HUD Status Bars mod and Unnecessary Violence II mod Installing UVII then installing HUD, allowed the HUD mod to install some files related to UVII functions But then the shadows went inverse And the only solution that worked, was installing UVII again... I have no idea why this happens as no files are overlapped or replaced, UVII and HUD mod have their own separate ini files... its a complete mystery, but at least I found a solution... Let's just hope it keeps on working, now that UVIII was released... Link to comment
