Skyrim Ground Hog Day

I started a new playthrough and decided to use Vortex due to some weird errors I was having with MO2. 

In MO2  there was a message that my mods were ambiguous. Never seen that  one before so I tried Vortex. I don't know of course if the Vortex issue is caused by the same  thing as the MO issue.

 

Had a few issues but nothing I couldn't solve got the game going and then I noticed something peculiar.

Every time I got a follower if I signed shut off the game the next time I booted it up the follower will have disappeared.

Not only that where I have been to before there is a message I discovered this or that when I had been there before.

The followers are right back  where I picked them up and act as if this is new and they weren't with me previously.

 

So odd. Any ideas ?  This game along with Cyberpunkt were on Vortex ,My other Skyrim game an SE and Fallout 4 are on MO and don't have that those issue.

 

I still have items I bought previously so those don't go away. It''s ridiculous. I could just give up and play my other games but I am curious and perplexed about this one's issues.
