depending on your antivirus whitelisting dyndolod might not be sufficient, you might have to turn it off almost completely while running the LODs

My antivirus hasn't been flagging anything as far as I can see. The logsheet for DynDOLOD was giving me errors and warnings about missing meshes and overwritten references, etc. Problems I haven't had on older versions of DynDOLOD.

I finished mine ~30 minutes ago. Same way i put up in the instructions.

 

If it crashes try using 'medium' instead of 'high' in the settings. Worst case you have to go through the error page (shows up after closing DynDOLOD) or the support page of the mod and ask there. I got only very basic knowledge about scripting.

 

Oh, those... In the guide i changed so much that those are almost impossible to avoid. So much stuff gets replaced or simply added. And you don't want to know how many errors are in the game files from Bethesda (just check USSEP). On top of all that is the fact that DynDOLOD 3 is still an Alpha version.

It's not crashing, it's failing to write the fileID due to errors during the run. So I don't know how to fix it without going through every plugin with SSEEdit and cleaning all 1000+ errors.

Copy the output and look for something that says "missing"  or "error" or "blank", it usually says the name of the mod in plain text

If it isn't your AV throwing a wrench into LOD generation there are only less flattering options.

You either forgot to install the C++ Redistributable and/or NET Runtime, or ran the x86 executables instead of x64.



If you go back to the earlier pages of this thread you might notice that I struggled with getting dynDOLOD to 'work' for me too before identifying my AV as the culprit.

@ddfde Is everything fully updated? DynDOLOD has released a new version, new resources, and new DLL in the past week.

 

@Aylis If it helps, I've started adding a ton of DAR animations. Basically all the ones I used before it stopped working with newer updates. Here are the ones I'm using with notes if applicable. I haven't noticed any issues at all with these so far.

Patch for Survival Mode and CCARA - Need to get the one with EVG Animation variance patch included.

Immersive Folded Hands

NPC Animation Remix

Sexy Random Idles - Don't let the name fool you. These aren't porn poses. They look very good on a serious female character.

Lively Children Animations

Eating Animations and Sounds - This is a personal favorite, especially on a Survival Mode playthrough. It now requires Keyword Item Distributor (doesn't seem to interfere with anything) and Payload Interpreter

Eating Animations - Fishing Patch - If using the Fishing CC.

Feral - Works as intended again. Not sure how it plays with Smooth Moveset yet, seeing as how unlike Combat/Non-Combat, its successor Smooth Moveset doesn't have a FOMOD that lets you pick and choose which weapon-drawn idles you'd like.

Gesture Animation Remix - Looks great with followers like Serana with SDA.

Feminize - NPC Turning Animations - Again, feminine without being porn-y.

Animated Potions - Optional. Believe it or not doesn't interfere with gameplay. Unlike the older one, drinking the potion only triggers on the first potion, so you can still down 15 potions without going through each animation - especially because it also doesn't kick you out of your inventory automatically while drinking (it waits until you close it yourself).

 

Notably absent would be Animated Interactions and Idles seeing as how it has big DON'T USE THIS MOD printed on its front page. People in the forum seem to have it working, but I'm not going to try it. Honestly, I have a big love/hate with this mod, especially with this newer version requiring either jumping or sneak/un-sneaking in order to end an animation. They look good, but that's quite annoying.

 

Also of note is that there are a few tools that open programs to show conflicts between DAR animations as well as let you view them using a dummy without having to open and trigger them in-game. I haven't looked at these but they look very fun in deciding what would be in a final load order.

 

Also-also of note, these mods greatly benefit from using TDM/TrueHUD. I go back and forth on it, but for the most part I really like it, especially if stuff like SkySA may get re-added. Great while using a controller, and I like the HUD showing an enemy's level on Legendary playthroughs. I also really like casting and firing a bow from horseback. I also like how changes to the MCM get added to Overwrite.

 

Also-also-also of note (maybe), this is the order that I have them listed in, with the new prerequisites like Keyword Item Distributor going under SKSE Extensions.

Downloaded all of those already. Unless the 6.0.11 version of NET runtime is what breaking it, but I doubt it. Only thing I didn't install was DirectX because DirectX12 is already built into windows.

 

I turned off windows defender and ran it again and nothing changed, so it's not that. There has to be a borked mod and I just need to figure out which one. I read that some people were having issues building LODs with newer GPU drivers but as far as I can tell that was an AMD issue, not Nvidia.

This sounds like an issue with your AV. Deactivate the real-time-protection for folders (but cut the internet for that).

-I think Movement Behavior Overhaul's procedural leaning might not be necessary if using TDM, though I know MBO does other stuff.

 

-Interestingly, I just installed DAR Explorer. You install it like an executable in MO2. There is a helpful comment in the nexus Posts tab (November 14, 2022) to install it. It lets you look at (and to some extent mess with) animations, like you say, without going in game. I haven't messed with it beyond confirming it shows the animations. Yeah, it could quickly allow comparing animations. Kind of fun!

 

@Aylis Thanks for going in the Alternate Perspective direction. I was going to try that next time. And maybe pair it with Helgen Reborn (since I have never used that mod). There is a patch for that: Alternate Perspective - Helgen Reborn Patch.

Thats exactly my plan too. Several places get rebuild over time (the watchtower near Whiterun for example) so it would make sense to add that mod. The only thing is that i never used it before and i guess it is quite scriptheavy.

 

But i got a few more things planned

Already got three (optional) armors with SMP that will imho fit into the game. Finding good looking non-slooty ones isn't that easy.

 

Sadly 'Armors of the Velothi Pt. II' is way too buggy atm. With some patches/updates it would be a great addition.

That mod is 10 years old by now and it shows. I somehow cannot see you accept the worldspace edits for the extra questing locations it adds. ?

Well, after cleaning every single plugin and failing to get DynDOLOD to work, I decided to try a completely fresh install of the standalone and now it works just fine. In hindsight I should have figured it out when the error message was saying it can't write to the DynDOLOD esp but in my defense, the devs could do a much better job of explaining what their fileID errors actually mean to the end user.

 

At least I have a squeaky clean load order now.

@Aylis Read the Room was pretty buggy for me. Worked fine one second, refused to work the next. I didn't spend much time on it, because I'd rather manually unequip anyway. I also share @alaunus01's fears for Helgen Reborn. I've never used it, but it looks like every mod under the sun has to have compatibility patches for it.

 

@ddfde Yeah, in my experience, Seshon's error troubleshooting is spot-on while their technical writing is pretty poor. It's that way for a lot of developers (mod or otherwise).

@ Everyone

I have seen the mixed opinions re: Helgen Reborn. There is still both love and hate for it. I was under the impression recent patches have helped a lot. Does anyone have recent experience with it? My thinking was exactly the same as Aylis with regard to the other locations that get torn down and rebuilt.

Details, more details, and, just for a change, a lot more details... Foundation is completely reworked, a buggy texture mod is gone and a few visual glitches have been fixed as well. As usual one seemingly small bugfix caused a whole chain-reaction of changes.

 

DAR is now integrated (still keeping an eye open for OAR), and hopefully we'll get the update for the last missing big mod soon.

Hi everyone! I have a suggestion for one of the links.

Under Required mods and updates the link TES Skyrim SE doesn't say its for the ENB. I almost skipped this thinking its a link to the game itself since there is no context.

The other thing is that the Bright Waterfall Fix for ENB says it requires Realistic Water Two or Water for ENB. However, none of those mods are in the list (unless I am missed something?)

I understand this is a newer guide and I apologize if this has already been mentioned. Thanks for your efforts in making this!

@ Everyone

I have seen the mixed opinions re: Helgen Reborn. There is still both love and hate for it. I was under the impression recent patches have helped a lot. Does anyone have recent experience with it? My thinking was exactly the same as Aylis with regard to the other locations that get torn down and rebuilt.

I played Helgen Reborn first in Oldrim, and when I switched to SE but did not keep it in my loadorder because even back then it already was a bit dusty. It is 'interesting' to play once but replay value is questionable. And I cannot even imagine the headaches Aylis will have trying to pretty it up. Unique NPCs that have to be patched, not to mention going the independence route instead of picking imperial/stormcloaks. brand new armour textures to worry about. ?‍♂️

Love your guides and appreciate all the hard work you put into putting them together for us!  Couple of things I would like to ask generally and in relation to the latest update as I'm working through it.

 

Generally, would it be possible to add a note to any entries where a specific version is required at all, the couple that immediately spring to mind are the Nature of the Wild Lands that has compatibility requirements with Seasons of Skyrim in Foundation and the Bits and pieces female and male skins in Patches that link to older versions for what I'm guessing are compatibility reasons that I havent quite worked out myself yet.  I think there may be others as well where your download links point to to specific versions but it may be helpful to note them for anyone using the update checker in Mod Organizer who struggles to remember if out of date mods need to be updated or not and likes to tinker with things between updates and may be slightly OCD about making sure everything is up to date where possible.

 

As for the latest updates Payload Intrepreter was linked in the update to 0.9.8 post under SKSE Extensions but I cant see it in the main post to find out where it needs to go in the load order and under Foundation you have an entry for Assorted Mesh fixes followed by Assorted Mesh Fixes - Mesh Patch but I'm not sure which one I need to download for that.
