m1azar Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Hey all. I've been playing FO4 for years now, as have most of us here. Recently, after months and months of using two weapon mods, the Service Rifle and the Walther P99 (mine's chambered in .38) I've come to the conclusion that these are the most boring weapons I've ever used in gaming. And I love them both for it. Gauss rifles? Lasers? Plasma weapons? .50 cal snipers? Nah. The M4 and P99 do everything I need in a pair of tight, light packages. All the other standard infantry weapons need no apply. I finally understand what my friend meant when he said "The army taught me that we're at peak firearm. Everything after this will just be tweaks to the AR platform." My character carries a service rifle. All my companions carry service rifles. My Minutemen are all equipped with service rifles. Pardon, some carry a belt-fed weapon or RPG. Boring but effective. Anyone else agree?
Juan Mann Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 I prefer the M1911 over the P99 but pass Service Rifles around to all of my Minutemen, Guards and Settlers. .45 might be slow and fat, but it hits hard :-p
Captain Cobra Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Run a spicier Assault Carbine + Deagle + AMR combo myself, but I agree.
Joe_Oni Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) As soon as I can, I tend to outfit my settlers with a mix of the combat rifle configured to a submachinegun, 76 10mm subguns and fullauto service rifles. My followers are usually armed with fullauto service rifles and maybe a M60 My loadout is usually a semiauto Ru556 with a suppressed 45 laser, plasma, pipe weapons get scrapped, the rest sold off. Nuka Cherry Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I am quite partial to the laser musket, but the first time I get an M14 type weapon my body goes..... "hmm, home".
steelpanther24 Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I use Deadpool's Service Rifle as well and usually end up with the sniper rifle (usually the 1904 Springfield ...it is in the M1 garand mod I think) and dump the 1911 .45 to Nick (because a private detective always carries a 45), Piper gets the Walter PPK, Strong gets the Shrike,, etc. However, my mod set makes finding ammo the hardest thing in the world, so I have to scavenge for lead all the time. That means I can't give the service rifle out because I want all the 5.56mm ammo stored at my settlements in case I run out in the field. Second point, the ammo weight for the 5.56mm and .308 are usually not too bad, but I still can't carry more than 300 rounds of both combined, along with armor and space to haul all those lead batteries back to a settlement. Anyway, I agree. M16/M4 are the best weapons I use in FO.
Guest Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 I carry the RU556, silenced and a Desert Eagle black with 50 cal.
katrina.balanchuk Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 I know very little about weapons both real world and on fallout 4. I admit I often just pick the weapon by remembering what was good in Fallout 2 and i look at the damage number and the rate of fire number and how easy the ammo is to get. if it wasnt for ammuntion supply I'd use the minigun all the time.
Shade115 Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Why not like a reliable, functional, and ergonomic firearm? Nothing wrong with it, hell, in the settings of Fallout, it should be preferable. Shame Bethesda really went out of their way to make most of the weapons ignore a lot of those features, whilst making weird monstrosities out of existing ones. I mean, just look at what they did to the Tommy Gun!! It's so unnecessarily bulky for a submachine gun! Though I do admit, I don't mind the look of the Laser Guns (excluding the Sniper barrel), and the Gauss Rifle in Fallout 4 is surprisingly accurate to how coilguns currently look (being kind of big and blocky).
