Need some help in a first time ever issue with thieves Guild quest !

Hey people

So here is the issue ,

First time this ever happened to me, I started the Riften Thieves Guild quest as usual ,

And soon went into  Loud and Clear that was finished normally  after this when you are back to Brynjolf he ends up going to talk to Mercer and tells you that you have

to go to the Bee and Barb to talk with Maven ..

Here exactly in my game play I felt it was weird  cause usually the quest Dampened Spirits should stat and the usual Journal entrances add into your game

But nothing happens , tried about every possible fix , with Console commands to advance this quest initial first stage or two but the console response is always Join faction or something like I was not in the Thieves Guild faction already ...

As you can see in this link    Bug: Receiving the Ques   there are a lot about this bug

There is even someone that add a similar problem but it was back in but I am at the inicial game missions of the Main story line and nothing was advanced yet in Civil War or whatever apparat from some side quests and some LL quests ..

Thinking in advancing to Esbern that is the reason one gets in touch with this guild and see if the Quest starts auto but I doubt it will happen..

If anyone had this issue and knows how to help please tell me cause I am lost here ..

Since you didn't mention what console commands you issued, I'm going to suggest more console commands. Also, as far as I know, SetStage specifically does not print "you need to be in a faction", nor does vanilla papyrus have the ability to print console messages (that's an skse thing most likely). So it could also be useful to know exactly what the console message said when you, presumably, used setstage to try to advance or "start" TG03.

  1. What is the output of "getstage TG02"?
  2. What was the output of "getstage TG03", before you modified it?
  3. Are you saying "setstage TG03 10" does nothing? No quest objectives, no quest title on your screen?
  4. Have you tried "resetquest TG03"?
  5. Have you tried "startquest TG03"?
  6. Have you installed the unofficial patch?

I Made it work reading this help post and it worked guy

(Thieves' Guild) Can't start Dampened Spirits

Add in the console  the commands exactly as he says until the last , even if you think its not triggering the quest  after the last close the console commands and you see the quest as been completed and the next triggered ...

Thanks traison for the other help post but I couldn't try it cause this one I posted worked flawlessly

Hope this helps anyone that gets this issue !

I completed Loud and Clear quest , its gone from the journal and showing up in the completed tab ,

I didn't modified it and Loud and Clear was done and finished  just the entry for  Damned Spirits to talk at start to Maven never triggered.

by Using setstage or getstage The only message was in the console  not in faction or something like that

Tried the rest and nothing happened ..

The same as above nothing happened but the Not in faction warning in the console ...

Yes I always have the unofficial patch

What worked for me was on the link above in my last post.

Seems like you just skipped TG03, I wouldn't call that a fix. Also I'm fairly certain completequest can mess things up quite badly sometimes. Something to keep in mind if more things start breaking in the future.

The better option would be to look TG03 up on the uesp wiki and go through the quest stages table at the bottom. Setstage your way through the quest until you get to a stage that completes the quest for you. Usually this is stage 200 but in quests that fork it may be something different. This way you don't risk causing mayhem in future quests.

Edit: and by "setstage your way through the quest" I don't mean find the last stage and setstage 200, I mean literally go from stage 10 to 20 to 30 to 40 etc. watch the objectives update before jumping to the next. In quests that fork you need to setstage appropriately.

Oh I tried that but advancing single stages and finally to the stage 200 that is the final never triggered the quest or the stage , I tried every possible way , and simply didn't work  Skipping or completing a quest via console it brings no issues it can bring if for example you do it with a entire quest line , for example the all Thieves Guild quest from start to end ,  that can cause issues , but advancing a single quest in a story line is not a problem if you haven't started it yet ... Skyping a quest is not the same as completing it in console commands bud , advancing quest stages does only miss the quest rewards like weapons or armors , and I didn't lost anything but the messages from Karlya and the Decanter that I can grab latter ... in other side skipping yes can cause issues due to lack of quest objectives, that was not what I have done , i research a lot before taking this step and this is used a lot and in previous Skyrim versions cause of certain quests bugs , they never advise however to do this to an entire quest line ... That I never done..
